University of Minnesota new head coach?

Post by Judgeandjury »

I'm not saying I'm just saying. Just for the fun of it who will be Minnesota's new coach when Lucia is let go?

With the talented recruits Lucia gets each year how can they not be more competitive?

I say Dean Blaise will come home to coach his beloved Golden Gophers. Hopefully sooner than later.

Any other good choices?

Andy Murry would be a good choice even though he's got no history with the team.

dean would be a good choice. He did a great job at UND. Dean is doing a nice job in Fargo to. The U would make a good choice because they would have a very good coach, and they would FINALLY open the Canadian connection wide open instead of taking just a few guys every year.

The last time a Canadian was on the team was 2006. Far from a few every year.

I think the Don has made it very clear that he knows what he's doing as far as recruiting goes. The Gophers have had two bad weeks and prior to the two bad weeks were a top five team in the country. Stop the mutiny and let the man do his job.

I think Hastings would be a good coach. I wish perhaps UND had given him a shot when Blais left. He did well in Jrs for a quite some time

How can you even argue with have Coach Lucia as our coach.
One of the winningest coachs Natioanl Championships, top recruits all the time yearafter year. He is success and first class on and off the ice.
Year in and Year out everyone in the country is gunning for u because you are the GOPHERS. Why mess with success.

Why mess with success?

Please tell us what success they've had in the past four years?

Please tell us why top players are leaving early every year and pointing fingers at Lucia?

What's more embarrassing? making the NCAA's this year with a poor team? Or having the NCAA placing Minnesota in the NCAA tourney for $$$ reasons?
I'll give our beloved coach one more year to turn things around. If not we'll show him the door.

I don't think it's happened Goldy, I think that is what he is insinuating might happen.

I know that's what he's doing but until it happens I don't think he has too much of an argument.

i dont think that the gophers need Lucia to pull recruits. im sure who ever replaces him will be a great coach. but this year has been ridiculous for the gophers. when you have as much talent as they do and your still not able to perform... that says something about the coach in my opinion. they should be a top team in the nation but instead they are going into the last weekend of the season ranked 17th in the nation with a record of 14-11-7. that is awful for the expectations i had at the beginning of this season, and i am not even a gopher fan. i think a new coach would be good for the program

In the 05-06 season, after Jan 1st, the Gophers finished the regular season 14-1-1.

Not too shabby

EDIT
Before Jan 1st they were 12-5-4

I think the U should give Don and his assistants big money contract extensions.

After Minnesota split with the worst team in the WCHA this weekend do people still think Lucia is the coach for the future?

How can the players not get up for this series?

Minnesota should give Don one more year to prove if he's a good coach. With that said I hope he's already worked with Stoa to get him to stay one more year. After that he will have plenty of experience and a good class coming in next year.

Remember fans part of coaching is recruiting kids that actually will stay at Minnesota for more than 1-2 years. UND seems to do this almost every year before their good kids leave. The coaches also need to get the team focused for each and every game.

If you ask me I think me the focus was good last weekend. With the exception of one player(Kangas on friday). The offense did everything they could to win that first game.

Lets see how Minnesota does against SCSU this weekend. Minnesota is at home for a chance to play in the WCHA final 5. If they don't win this series the boys will be getting ready for next year.

I used to be a big Lucia supporter. The past two years it's the same story. Weak team with kids bailing early and not saying nice things about the coach or program.
I will give Lucia one more year to prove what he can do. If he's a great coach he'll find a way to keep the talented players for more than two years. Lets see if he can keep Stoa and Carmen one more year. We need players like this to stay to put us over the top.

Players will have to make a decision: Money $$$ or Tradition? Money seems to win majority of the time.

gopher coaching

it's the dream job of college hocey but it has it's disadvantages.

Lucia gets the top "young" talent, but now they leave too early and never reach their college peak like the days of Pohl, Leopold and co.
