I got NP over RW. Its time for the Lapics and Adams to live up to all of the hype. Plus the third time is a the charmgopherhockey21 wrote:I got Lourdes beating Red Wing.Nodak Sioux wrote:Should be a really good playoff!

New Prague vs. Lourdes would be amazing because their first lines are explosive.
Red Wing is the classic defensive team. West is the defending champs and clearly an underdog this year. Albert Lea has something to prove. Lourdes got all the talent. New Prague has the offensive threat.
I just have to bet on Lourdes, way too much talent overall on that team. They have a bunch of seniors that are on a mission just like last years Mankato West team.

i have red wing over lourdes also. everyone keeps talking about lourdes and np having a good first line but i think that red wings first line of P. Noeson, Mensing, and Schammal can play with both teams top lines. They have put up some huge numbers together, and they have proved this by doing some damage in both games they have played against np.

Yeah it should be one of those three teams to come out of this group; but you can't say for sure who, they have all played great at some point this season, Red Wing seems to be playing the best lately which has a lot to do with their tough schedule, Lourdes were tough right out of the gate but have leveled off and aren't playing their best hockey, New Praque has the potential to go out and beat anyone if they are on their game. Suspect defense and goal tending has hurt them at times and the fact that when their first line isn't out there they get really exposed on both ends.
who wins
Albert Lea, but New Prague will not go down easy. Tyler Prihoda will be the difference. He plays both ends of the ice and has as much offensive talent as Tyler Lapic. AL's top line has its bearings again after losing Stadtheim, and their goaler is peaking. AL has better quality depth than NP, especially on defense, which is underrated.
I think AL had the better of the play against Red Wing earlier this season, which included a spectacular effort by Prihoda. Goaltending was the difference in that game, but that won't happen again. The Red Wing goaler played well, but he couldn't stop Prihoda.

Re: who wins
Going out on a limb here Goaler. Agree with you that Prihoda is a heckuva player though. What I would really like to see is West upset Al though--homer pick. Gonna take an effort we haven't seen lately though by them, but hey that is why they play the gamegoaler wrote:Albert Lea, but New Prague will not go down easy. Tyler Prihoda will be the difference. Re: who wins
Well that couldn't of gotten any more biased.... First of all, Prihoda is a good player, but he doesn't have as much offensive talent as Lapic, not many people do.... Secondly, the only reason Albert Lea was in that game was because of Prihoda, theres not much else... So I don't know how you can say Albert Lea outplayed the Wingers.goaler wrote:Albert Lea, but New Prague will not go down easy. Tyler Prihoda will be the difference. Agreed, I haven't seen many games but Lourdes just has too much senior talent not to win this section, it's a close section tho.scarlethockey33 wrote:New Prague vs. Lourdes would be amazing because their first lines are explosive.

1A who wins
I think any of the top 5 teams can come out of the section.ill pick lourdes over new prague and AL over Red Wing.cant quite choose the final winner though. I think Albert lea's top line of prihoda Prescher-smerud and Stadhiem will shut down red wing. stadheim is just returning i heard from injury and willl be ready. Prihoda and Smerud are both having stellar years and Prihoda played real well agianst Red wing the first time and he will be a huge factor in the game. I think Prihoda is just as good as Schyler Adams as is prescher- smerud from watching them two this year. Sections will be fun thats for sure!
High plains
Well, yeah, it was biased dangler, probably because I've seen AL play more than the other teams on top. And isn't that what an opinion is?
It wasn't like Albert Lea dominated Red Wing, but they did have almost 30 shots. And in the first period, they had things going their way until Red Wing got a goal on a one-man rush. It was an excellent game. And you are right, Tyler Prihoda held AL up with those spectacular third-period goals, and that one-timer in the second.
No doubt, Red Wing is a solid team. And, no doubt, Tyler Lapic is a very, very talented forward, but I've seen Prihoda make too many plays this year not to bring it up.

i was just looking at this thread and started to think about faribault. they could absolutely stomp any team below them, but havent won against any team above them. however, they did play new prague to a 2-0 game, west to a 3-2 game, but got beat pretty good by albert lea and lourdes.
the reason i bring this up is does anyone think they have a legit shot at a chance of an upset over lourdes? it may be a long shot but i just want other opinions.

I will take Red Wing to take it all. I agree Lourdes on paper is the strongest and the most talented team in the section hands down. But, they proved that they can't consitently put together a string of games where they play well and during sections if you cannot do this a team such as albert lea or New Prague will bite you. Lourdes has already been biten by both of these teams already. It just seems to me that Red Wing throughout the year has been that steady eddy that plays pretty consistent. It should be very fun to watch this go down any way you look at it. Albert Lea has the toughest start of anybody with West on Thursday. That in my opinion is another team that if you play soft can surprise you. See you all at the Rec on Sat. Have fun.

Faribault
Could Faribault upset Lourdes? I don't think so, but you never know. They can look pretty good at times. Consistency has been a problem, probably because they are young. But I don't think they have enough experience to knock off Lourdes, although they could give them a good game, and just maybe ...
mistah hockey- there was no ignorance behind that statement. they would stomp everyone but i have to exclude lacrescent bc i dont really know much about them. by bad on that.
goaler- i guess that would be a long shot at an upset over lourdes with the talent and age difference. i just wanted to point out one thing about faribault. all of there big games (with exception of west) have been on the road. lourdes, new prague, albert lea all away. do you think that maybe the young age and road games is a disadvantage? should be interesting when all those games will be in their barn next year
