That was my mistake.

Century AND Mayo control their own destinies.

Should be a fun week of hockey.

Mayo vs. Albert Lea tonight. Should be a good game. I will take Mayo 4-2 . Mayo outplayed them in there own barn on Saturday and I believe that will happen again tonight in AL. Shut down AL first line and the game is over. Anybody else?

I think the tigers will keep it close, but mayo will come out with the W, 3-2 Mayo

Also Mankato West plays Century today, if West needs to win this one to show they are a solid team but Century is a relatively good team. They did beat Duluth East earlier this season, but then again Matt Cooper wasn't in net for that game.

Albert Lea beat Mayo 5-2 and West and Century tied 4-4 meaning either Century wins the Big Nine outright or there's a 2 way tie between AL and Mayo.

Albert Lea beats Mayo 5-2, and Century ties West 4-4.

Century/Mayo for the Big 9 Championship on Thursday. If Mayo wins, then AL and Mayo share the title. If Century wins, they win it out right.

Any report on that Century/West game?

Section 1AA

Sounds like the Mayo/Century game (Thursday) is probably for the #1 Seed in 1AA. I'm assuming the Lakeville schools will get the #2/#3 Seed. The Winona/Owatonna game (Friday) probably is for the #5 Seed.

I don't see Century competing with Mayo for the number #1 seeding in the sections. Mayo beat both Lakeville teams and Century twice. Century lost to both Lakeville teams.

I think with the loss to AL, Mayo will come out strong. For them to beat Century, they have to get there top two lines to play like they have been prior to tuesday night game against AL. If the top line for mayo can outplay Century's top line and the 2nd line can contain Century's 2nd line, I think Mayo will come out winning with another 4-3 game. They also will have to find a way to get the puck past sellnow.

I think that this game will come down to which teams defense plays the smartest. They will need to make the smart 1st pass and not go for the homerun all the time causing to many turn overs. Goaltender will be a huge advantage for Mayo with Yaggy. Could come down to which team stays out of the box. Good luck to both sqauds.

It will be a 3 way tie if Mayo beats Century on Thursday. Mayo, Albert Lea, and Century.

If Mayo wins they have 16 pts and tie with Albert Lea, Century 2nd with 15 pts. If Century wins they have 17 pts Albert Lea 16, and Mayo 15. If they tie Century and Albert Lea tie with 16 pts, Mayo with 15.
Now I think Mayo is the better team with the better goalie, it comes down to who makes the fewest mistakes at defense and Penalties. I look for a 1 goal game should be a fun one.

Century will have to get the puck past Yaggy, which will be a tougher job than getting the puck past Sellnow. Sellnow has played a few outstanding games this year, but Yaggy is a veteran and has been hot recently...Yaggy has way more experience and consistency than Sellnow, and has already proved himself in big games. Also once Sellnow is down, he hardly moves at all, I wouldn't be surprised for the majority of Mayo's goals to be from juicy rebounds. Mayo 5-3.

Goaltending on both teams is solid, it comes down to those lucky bounces and mistakes from the opposing team. That will make the difference. Penalties will be costly in this game, it should be a good game.

Has anyone figured out who wouldve won the conference under the old point system?

Mayo won all five of their 4pt games under the old system and wouldve had 31 points with their only losses to Owatonna early and Tues at AL. The fifth point lost was the tie vs. Century. Century had losses vs. JM, AL, Mayo and a 2pt tie vs. West so that wouldve been 28 points. AL lost to Mayo, Century, Owatonna, and Winona so that wouldve been 28 as well under the old system.

I guessed I answered it myself if I did it correctly.

Mayo 31
Century 28
AL 28

Is that correct?

Yes, I think you have it correct. As to Getemupscout comment, would you make the same comment if Century ended up in third but given the old system would have come out on top? I do not like the new system because I think all teams should get points when playing each other. What if Century won all their games when they played the first game in the big nine but lost the second game? It would look pretty bad on paper and Getemupscout would be on the blog making comments about how unfair the point system is. I think they should go back to the way it was or something similar and give credit for every game played in the conference.
