Hockey Skates

I just bought my son (a bantam) new skates. Do they need to be rockered? The guy at the store (Hockey Giant) said that if he's playing regularly and getting them sharpened regularly it is not necessary.

Depends on position. Might want to rocker the skates if playing defense.

Depends on the brand. Did he switch brands?

The brands are all factory rockered, it is more a personal preference and/or position thing. My oldest had a pair of Grafs that we never got him comfortable in and yet, other defenseman love them. He went back to Bauer and he was much faster and the skates were all that changed. Obviously, the rocker mattered.
