Duluth East-Cloquet II (2/11/09)

Post by karl(east) »

The teams enter this game with nearly opposite records, but history has shown that it tends to end up being worth the price of admission for one reason or another.

Consider the last ten meetings, which have included:
-5 Cloquet wins
-4 East wins
-1 tie
-6 1-goal games
-1 2-goal game, by virtue of an empty-netter
-3 playoff meetings
-3 overtimes and one game decided with 11.9 seconds to go
-2 major on-ice fights
-22 East goals
-22 Cloquet goals

We'll see what this one brings us. I could see it being a dangerous game, with a Cloquet team frustrated with a very bad season getting a shot at their hated rivals at home.

Same thing was said for last years section race. When East and Cloquet meet up funny things happen. Throw the records out, Cloquet is usually very ready to play.

Any chance that this one gets cancelled due to the ice storm heading up north?

I picked a good week to go on vacation :D

I'd say there is good chance. According to the News Tribune, Duluth could possibly have a half-inch of ice built up by tomorrow.

Downtown is in good shape...for now. They expect the freezing rain to pick up later this afternoon.

I'm an optimist so I'll predict the game will happen. :)

East by three. Hopefully no one gets injured or suspended.

You'll get your wish! Duluth Schools are closed today, so this game won't happen on Tuesday night. I'm sure it will be rescheduled...

Is there enough time left to get this game made up? I'm almost thinking it might now matter much for section implications, but I sure would like to see these 2 meet again.

Current conditions in Duluth: 39'F with light rain and fog. Temps did not dip below freezing last night. I don't get it. :?

The "official" word was that there was icing on rural roads outside Duluth.

Figures... Probably one road that is so remote, it hasn't seen a snow plow this winter.

Ah, good. Efficiently rescheduled.

Next question...I'm doubting myfoxhockey will be picking this one up now. How about a radio station?
