Mt. Rushmore of Minnesota High School Hockey
As many of you probably know, ESPN is running a Sportsnation feature on each state's Mt. Rushmore of sports. What would be the Mt. Rushmore of Minnesota HS hockey? What would be the Mt. Rushmore of your favorite school?

The way karl(east) is going, he'll be eligible in a month or so.Goldy Gopher wrote:Goldy Gopher, Lucia4President, Mitch and Lee
The only four that matter.
Haha, such a PLEASE BAN ME kisser.

Plus, I don't think either one Admin (Badger fan) or another admin (Bulldog fan) would allow a Gopher fan (or Gopher player, for that matter) to foul an otherwise perfect monument.

Funny how distance causes nostalgia (for a few things...)
As for my Mt. Rushmore: Ikola, Mayasich, Saterdalen, and, in a bit of blatant homerism, Spehar.

At least there are no Sioux or Husky fans in the mix.east hockey wrote:The way karl(east) is going, he'll be eligible in a month or so.Goldy Gopher wrote:Goldy Gopher, Lucia4President, Mitch and Lee

Everyone knows that it would have to be the Hanowski brothers, Sperl and Festler.
The U invented swagger.

Edina High:
Willard Ikola (makes it even though he played at Eveleth)
Paul Ranheim
Dave Maley
Dan Carlson
Ranheim and Maley were leaders of state champion teams and a lifelong Edina resident insists Carlson is the best he's seen.

outside looking in
Strong argument can be made for Aaron Broten too. Maybe even Brian Bonin? Scott Bloom with two titles in 1985 and 1986. Dave Spehar.

Bonnin, definite yes. One of U's only Hobey winners...O-townClown wrote:Strong argument can be made for Aaron Broten too. Maybe even Brian Bonin? Scott Bloom with two titles in 1985 and 1986. Dave Spehar.

Joe Bianchi would definitely be worth consideration. 3 time state champion, as well as fastest pure hat trick in the state tournament (at the time, not sure if still) as a sophomore. If we're talking about a player's Mt. Rushmore, just considering their high school career, Dave Spehar would definitely be in the running for one of the top 4 spots. I'm not familiar with the stats of many of the old timers, that's why I'm not saying these two should definitely be on there.
