This will be UND's NCAA tourney game and rival game all in one weekend. UND chances on making the NCAA's at this point are slim to none. But they always seem to find a way because the fans travel and spend money to watch them. We all know how fixed the NCAA hockey selection committee is.

Hey Judge, nice try with the UND talk. Shows you know nothing about hockey. Now sit back, and enjoy your Championship games this weekend because we all know how the Rodents do in the NCAA's CHOKE!!!!!! This will be the U's biggest game of the year.

Minnesota has the makings to be a very competitive NCAA tournament team for the next few years. This will be a good test for them to go into the Ralph and see what they can do. I just believe the Gophers have more firepower offensively and better goaltending which should get them two W's this weekend.

Hey Chimp NCAA's choke? Minnesota has done better in the NCAA tourney lately if you want to count back to back championships. Please correct me if I'm wrong but UND has been in the past four frozen fours with NO CHAMPIONSHIPS to their credit. I guess if you want to talk about choking then we can.

Lucia has two National Championships how many does Dave Suckstal have?
Or we could talk about import players from Canada and recruiting from Minnesota if you want. Minnesota wins with majority Minnesota kids. "State of Hockey"

UND's new school song:

English:

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Hey Judge, are you going to hang the Dodge Classic championship banner next weekend? It was quite an impressive tournament with some high powered teams. Just think , last year at this time someone was thinking, "who can we bring in to make this a real tournament--how about Brown (who won 6 games last year (21 losses), Western Michigan-who won 8 (27 losses), and Northeastern, (16 wins and 18 losses). Nice. Either run a real tournament with real teams (which hasn't happened for several years) or don't have a tournament at all. And don't claim that they lose guys to the Jr.'s as an excuse--they don't have to bring in Michigan and Notre Dame, but they could bring in at least mid-level competition. It's kind of embarrassing. Anyway, good luck to the Gophers

Northeastern - 12-4-2, 4th ranked team in the nation. North Dakota is unranked. Maybe the Gophers shouldn't waste their time with the "Sue".

And why did you go off about the Dodge Classic, rather than the NCAA tourneys like judge did? Give me 1 holiday tourney that had 2 teams in the top 5 this year, other than the Dodge Holiday Classic. You don't know what you're talking about.

Chimp-

Dodge Holiday classic

Minnesota #3
NorthEastern #4

UND lost to Michigan State and Michigan Teck both unranked.

Minnesota beat Northeastern. If you compare tourneys Minnesota had higher ranked teams in their tourney.

Good luck this weekend it should be a good series. UND really cannot afford to lose two games this weekend then it's catch up time.

Lucia, I must have struck a nerve--kind of a sore spot. It's ok that the U likes to schedule high school teams in their tournament--that's there perogative. Since we are on the topic of trivia, which of the two answers are correct: Who has won more hockey championships (we'll go NCAA or pro):

1. UND (hint the answer is 7) or:
2. Minnesota, Minnesota State, St. Cloud State, UMD, Minnesota North Stars, and Minnesota Wild combined (hint-these 5 teams have won a COMBINED 5)
Judge, problem wiht your logic is that Michigan CRUSHED the U AT Minnesota; Michigan State tied Minnesota AT Minnesota; Michigan Tech tied Minnesota AT Minnesota. See, UND, Michigan, and Michigan State are all hockey powerhouses year in and year out. Michigan Tech is at least respectable.

Minnesota is a strong team, but that's where the comparisons end. That's ok. I just would hope that Minnesota would schedule stronger teams for the tourney. That's it. Enjoy your championship night Judge--I'll bet you dream on beating UND every year! :D

The U is not a powerhouse? Please...you must be joking.
How can you keep saying there were no good teams in the Classic when Northeastern was top 5 in the country and und was no where near the top 20.
No need to get deffensive just because the soiux are having a "down" year

Anyone have an update on coach Lucia? I would think that this would have some sort of an impact on the team.

Before the game they said that he was still in Minneapolis this weekend. He was undergoing tests today to see if they could find any information out. That's all that they knew. My best wishes to Coach Lucia and his family that this is nothing serious.

Patrick White and Nico Sacchetti both are poor at the college level I feel bad for the two teams that picked those players they're never going to make it to the next level.
Sacchetti hasn't displayed any skill offensively like he was suppose to have he dominated a weak conference and racked up points, but that's it he also can't shoot the puck high. He's a decent grinder, but will never be any type of scorer for the Gophers. Poor passer and has weak positioning, sucks defensively.

Patrick White needs to learn the physical asepect of the game he gets knocked off the puck so easy all White has is a hard shot and thats it.

I am eagerly awaiting your 3rd post.
In the mean time, hats off to the Sioux. They needed to come out with some emotion. They certainly did that.
Game will be differnent Saturday. Count on it.

Did anyone hear anything on Dave Fischer? He went down when his stick broke in the 2nd and they said he limped off the ice and I never saw him out again.

Lucia, first you asked for one other tournament over the holidays? How about BU at #3 and Denver at #5 (at the time of the tourney). When the Gophers and NE played, they were number 4 and 6. If you want to try and look at current rankings when comparing tournaments, let's check on Monday and see where the Gophers are. Before you tell others that they don't know what they are talking about, you should check your facts. You say maybe the Gophers shouldn't waste their time playing the Sioux? It's really the other way around. When you win 7 Championships, maybe you'll have something to brag about to a Sioux fan. :D

Judge, by your logic then, because the Sioux "Spanked" the Gophers (as described in your hometown newspaper), then Minnesota would have lost to every team in the GLI tourney. Sorry the Sioux spoiled your championship night!!

Biscuit, I never said the U wasn't a powerhouse. A little sensitive that I called them "strong" instead of a "powerhouse?" Nothing was intended by that label. Bottom line is that the Gophers are over ranked. Kangas played great for a while, but he was overwhelmed. He is solid. Stoa scored a couple nice goals. That is the Gophers team.

Any way, good luck to the Gophers as they will need it.

I didn't see it. They got outworked yet again.........easily. This might have been the worst two games I have ever seen the Gophers play. They TRULY have to go back to the drawing board, after this weekend.

What's with that Jones kid from UND? A defenseman lining up on wing and dropping his gloves and helmet, ready to fight, right from the faceoff?
Where does he think he is..................the NHL in 1970? What a complete arse.
