St Thomas (5-1) @ Holy Angels (4-1) 12-29 3:00
The first meeting between these two teams in years. Even on paper it is hard to tell who is the better team at this point. Should be a good game.

Dont know about Holy Angels...but the Cadets arent as good this year as years past.HShockeywatcher wrote:The first meeting between these two teams in years. Even on paper it is hard to tell who is the better team at this point. Should be a good game.

I would obviously prefer to pay money to see the Cadets win, as I always would, but more than that I would simply like to watch a good game of hockey. In the last three years I have thought it would be cool if they could play because St Thomas was able to compete with anyone and Holy Angels was a top team. Now they will be playing and St Thomas is down from last year. But they are solid and Holy Angels hasn't done anything to prove they will dominate the Cadets.
Good luck to both teams

Beating Culver Academy on their home ice should count for something!HShockeywatcher wrote:I would obviously prefer to pay money to see the Cadets win, as I always would, but more than that I would simply like to watch a good game of hockey. I'm not saying they aren't a good team. They have dominated three conference opponents, lost a team to lose by 3 and came from behind to win by 1 to a very good opponent. One game doesn't make a season though. And that game cannot be compared to any other MN team. On the flip side St Thomas only has an overtime home win to a down Minnetonka team. I think this will prove to be a good game.

From my understanding, the Stars and the Cadets haven't had a match up in recent history. I just watched the St. Thomas-Cretin game and the Stars will have a fast team to overcome. The Cadet's speed is what takes them to the next level, but im holding out for the Stars to win this one. Their defense is a lot better than Cretin and the Stars are also known for being a fast team. Cant wait for this one, this is one good match up.

should be a good game and should more than likely come right down to the wire. Will be fast paced with a lot of good skilled players crusin on the ice at the X. Which D will come up bigger and which offense can create more chances. Alrichter will be the best goalie. Mattson will be the best player on the ice.

My point still remains. Their first line won't play the whole game. Maybe they'll play 50%, their 2nd line 40% and their 3rd 10% and not let their 4th play. I doubt it'll be that much favoring the front, but either way they will play many different lines. Based on what has been said, what I've seen and looking at their stats it doesn't look like their top three forward make up their top their 1st line. It may be right that AHA's first line will be too much for STA's 1st line, but it seems their first three lines are very similar.
I guess we will know for sure in a little more than 72 hours

I'm predicting a blowout for the Stars. The Reilly/Matson line is to good and the Cadets just don't have the firepower to keep up. The Cadets will be out shot 2 to 1 in a 6-2 Stars victory.HShockeywatcher wrote:My point still remains. Their first line won't play the whole game. I haven't seen AHA play at all this year... but I really can't forsee a blowout by either of these two teams.
STA is obviously hungry to play with the best in the state and are hoping to stay in the argument that they should be in double "A", but obviously won't move.
and
AHA want's to try to pull away from the debate on wheather they are the real deal or not.
I'ld have to say that both of these teams seem to have the same amount of firepower (AHA might have the edge there.) But I think that STA might have a little more heart and drive. This will be a close game.

1. ryan reilly is twins with conor reilly, not the younger brother. mike is the younger brother
2. matt mcneely is a sophomore.
3. taylor matson is danny mattson's brother...at least gorg corrected this mistake

HAHA... you even spelled there last names right. Do you notice anything different??? One matson has 2 T's in there last name, and the other one has 1 T. Unless there family is really strange, they are not brothers. Its just a coincidence.

Gorg said something about Taylor and Danny being brothers during the the Wild game last night.
Does that guy know high school hockey or what?
