How Good is he?

Post by dakota12 »

Well, just watched another of Lucia's big recruits,,,,hmmmmmm,,,not sure about this one. Seemed to watch more than participate. Did have the one goal, but thought the Crandall kid was the best on the ice for STA. Maybe he promised Lucia that he wouldn't be playing football next year. Good luck kid, but would recommend you pick up the intensity a little bit.

I always question the intelligence of people who seem to rush to judgment on a player based on one game.

That kid has some of the best hands and vision in the state. Reminds me of Tyler Hirsch in that sense.

He sure worked out well for MN! I am sure the boy is thrilled with the comparison.

Derek Forbort committed to North Dakota before his junior year.

I have also watched a couple of the STA games this year. And it doesnt seems that so far this year he has been a standout on the ice. He is not being given as much space as he had last year. He skated with Walters and a couple of other good players also that either left early or graduated. Will be interesting to see how he progresses during the year with a lot more weight on his shoulders. I hope for the best. A freshman D from STA Schurhamer could be playin there in a couple years to. He looked nervous last night but logs a lot of minutes for a freshman in big games

I have seen Christian play once this year, which was in the game against Marshall. In that game his team outshot their opponent more than 2:1 and Christian was involved in many plays. There were more times than you can count on one hand he had a 1 on 3 skating up the ice through players and got up the ice and there was no one with him. Having good players does make players better, there is no doubt about that. He is definitely the best player on the team, which is a new thing. It takes a talented player to sit back and do what is needed rather than trying to get into every play. "watching" isn't necessarily a bad thing. He is currently the team's points leader with 10 points, 2 goals and 8 assists. He may need to turn the intensity up, I don't know but his team isn't losing, he's getting points and getting involved. Good enough for me for now. We'll see how he does at the X.

I meant the hands and the on ice vision that Hirsch showed. Isackson is a great passer. Just like Hirsch was. Obviously I didn't mean the issues Hirsch had off the ice. I didn't think I had to clarify it but I guess so. :P

Well we saw him at the X and in my opinion Gopher fans should be questioning thier recruit.
He was slower than I expected and he wasn't making room for himself at all. It seemed he was just letting his skills do all the work instead of simply picking up his feet and punching to the net. Lazy and unmodivated are a few words I'ld use to describe him.

If I recall corectly, that was the same criticism of Chad Rau, and he has been lighting it up for CC.

Great point, exactly what I meant in my earlier opinion of this kid. And, another point, he is still just a junior, and is very young, so I'm not saying he won't be a great player, but at this time, he needs to be a bigger part of the play. And the idiot, that mentioned that he is reading the play, and that's a good thing, well,,I really can't comment any further than I just did...that is just stupidity. Seriously, I hope nothing but good things for the kid, and I hope he becomes a great Gopher player some day.
