Golf freak,
Are you the same Golf Freak from last year? If you are and I remember right, you should be a senior this year correct?
If you are the player for Albert Lea, don't go getting your britches too big yet.
How's the guys between the pipes going to hold up for ya this year? I see there both 11th grade and didn't see much action last year.
Will you have enough offense to make up for the weak tenders?
Give me some feedback.

East lost their goalie and 1 forward to graduation. 1 other starting forward from last year isn't on the roster this season.? Other than that they have everyone back. They have a new coach who could bring a new attitude to the team. If they can find a reliable goalie from the 4 that are on the roster they should be better than a bottom tier team in the conference.can't skate a lick wrote:Did Owatonna play in both the Friday night scrimmages and there own on Saturday? Or did they split their team up. If it was their varsity team there Saturday, they are either over ranked early, or East will be better than people think. They played to a 3-3 tie and it seemed pretty even.
Well ROOK, seeing as my name has not changed that means that I am the same golfreak from last year. The only thing I'm going to say is that I am from Albert Lea, as most people on this forum already know.ALL-STAR ROOKIE wrote:Golf freak,

Now, back to what matters.
As far as I've seen, AL will not lose anything with their goalender this year. Wrolson is looking pretty tough.
You have to remember that the Tigers are always Senior dominant. I don't see this changing at all this year as they return some very skilled guys in Prihoda, Stadheim, Smerud, Sorenson, etc...

big 9
Golfreak, beware of posters with all-caps for a name bashing on Albert Lea. See: ZAMBONI, HOTSHOT etc. Ignore.
I predict:
1. Century
2. Mayo
3. Albert Lea
4. Faribault
5. West
6. Winona
7. Owatonna
8. JM
9. East
10. Austin
We'll see. Does anyone play today?

Big 9 Opinions
LZ94 - Respectfully disagree with Owatonna finishing 7th? I would be very surprised if they don't finish in the top three. If their defenseman step up they could win the Big Nine? These are the same players who went the Bantam A State Tournament two years in a row. Also, the added depth at forward will allow their top players to be fresher late in games.

I appreciate you respectfully disagreeing instead of just telling me that my opinion sucks, which usually happens on this bored.Miracle1980 wrote:LZ94 - Respectfully disagree with Owatonna finishing 7th? I'm basing my #7 prediction on them getting unloaded on by Albert Lea in a scrimmage and then tieing East.
Lets be honest though, those were scrimmages and may not be indicative at all of what kind of team they will have. But, the Fish tends to do as little with talent as any coach I've seen in the last 10 years.
Time will tell.

Yes you are correct on both, in net and he is a sophomore. I don't know if he has the starting position because the post-bulletin has reported that they have 2 other sophomores and they will get time in the net.Rocket78 wrote:I think I read on another thread that R Sellnow was in nets. Must be a sophomore?

Sellnow is good for a sophmore but Michael Hanson there original starting goalie had surgery and will most likely start when he is healthy

I think Albert Lea will take the conference title, but I look for West to maybe do better than alot of people think. Trautman is in goal with Kaufman backinig up. Trautman's a steady goaltender he'll do JUST okay. Defense will be huge for West this year. West does have more than the 3 threats that the majoraty of people talk about (Bruggeman, Campbell, Weber). Look for seniors to step up and I predict a breakthrough season for Weber.

I agree, Weber should be very good this season.scarlethockey33 wrote:I think Albert Lea will take the conference title, but I look for West to maybe do better than alot of people think. I did notice that in the West/AL game that West's third line didn't see much ice, but when they did they worked their asses off, and were a scrappy bunch out there, although I still believe depth may be a problem for West, as hard work can only do so much..
mayo game aside, i think east will pull off a few surprises this year. they didnt lose much (1 varsity forward and 1 goalie) and they gained a coach who has some experience. i saw them in a couple preseason scrimmages and they have improved much since last season. (they played owatonna and waseca) against owatonna it was a neck and neck game and had the lead until the final minute when owatonna tied it up. i seem to remember owatonna being a pretty solid team so it certainly surprised me. east walked over waseca..not that its a very big accomplishment but it really brought out the first line who had all of the points. so i think ill give some credit to those boys this year, not saying they will be in the top 5 but definetly a turn around year
