I disagree with you, sports at the college and professional levels are about winning because of the amount of money involved. At the High School level its about participation and winning is the bonus for those that have worked hard and have the skill to play at a top level. I miss the old days when everyone stayed at home and played with the kids they grew up with and you never knew what school was gonna make a run for the State Trophy but on the flip side more kids have the opportunity to play at the High School level and experience playing on a Varsity team. That is a GOOD thing, and if you feel differently then you are being selfish.komada77 wrote:Sports are not about getting as many kids involved as possible, they're about winning.Blue&Gold wrote:How about this spin: How many kids got a chance to play high school hockey because kids went to the juniors, Ann Arbor, or transferred to private schools and created room for them?
My son has played hockey since he was 5 years old like so many other hockey players. He has worked hard and has always given his best. He is a decent player now and plays U16 as a sophomore. He has a good chance to make JV next year and has high hopes of making Varsity his senior year. If a few of the top kids make a move to another school it might make the difference in making the Varsity team and getting to experience playing hockey at that level. It would mean the world to him, he has worked every bit as hard as the other players but not everyone can be a TOP player. Just to play on the Varsity team even if it is 3rd or 4th line would mean so much to him and I know there are a ton of players out there just like him. So more opportunities for more players is a GOOD thing. NUFF SAID
