To realhockeytown27,
Sorry I am not an Elk River native, only a fan of their early 2000 teams.
I didn't include Prosser or Madsen because they both left early and the teams still made it to State. For that reason, they were not needed and not counted. Empire got it right with Peterson and Long over my picks of Jackson and Hennum. I'll take Brodhag over Ozzy though.

Sova if your talking all Goon Squad of 2000. What about Jay Cascalenda that kid could play and still does. The kid was a flat out player worthy to be on the list.

chiefofmedicine - Matt Koalska graduated in 1999. He played one year in the USHL for the TC Vulcans before going to the U.
northwoods oldtimer - Read closer. Jay Cascalenda is on the list. He was one of the fastest Pioneer skaters ever. And yes - Dan Sova - 49 assists from the blue line the past 2 years. Plus he & Dolan knocked Roseau and Edina off their game back in March.

W Phil Todd 03' Kid with outstanding athletic ability. Could break the glass with his shot. Was definitely a D-1 and maybe NHL prospect, but his career was cut short after he passed in a tragic accident during his time with the River City Lancers of the USHL where he posted 13g/8a in 39 games in what would have been his senior year.
C Travis Vermeulen 05' Member of the 04 State Champs. Hardest worker on any team. Only 5'6" but could battle with anyone. Won Anderson Cup with Stamped totaling 9g/15a in 59 games in the USHL. Now a Junior at St. Lawrence of the ECAC with 14g/16a in 70 career games.

After high school, played with the Rochester Mustangs of the USHL totaling 2g/7a in 49 games and played for the Central Texas Blackhawks of the AWHL (now NAHL) in 02-03 receiving defenseman of the years honors by the league totaling 10g/46a in 55 games. I remember him being a big physical player but `he just seemed out of place on the hockey rink. He definetly had the athletic ability but lacked any real hockey sense from what I recall.

D Joe Schmitz 09' Had 1g and 21a as a junior at Centennial. Was a top defensive scorer in elite league with 3g/13a with led team NE. Has been in contact with a number of D-1 schools and should be a 1st round USHL pick in the upcoming draft. I think he was a B rated player as well.
D Matt Kisskeys 01' Second on Centennial's all time scorers list for defensemen. Model Camp participant in 01. Also played some minors.
3rd Line
W Willie Hess 09' Member of 06 Bantam A state champs. Led Centennial in goals with 29 and had 42 pts as a junior. Had 11g/11a in elite league. Should be a top notch prospect in the USHL next year.
W Jordan Van Guilder 06' Member of the 04 State Champs. Great goal scorer with a wicked shot. Played for Tri City for 3 years after high school. Had a full ride to Alaska Fairbanks, but chose not to pursue after a visit.
C Josh Bergren 06' Member of 04 State Champs. Great hands and offensive skills. Drafted by Tri City but attitude and other issues got him removed from the team. Was def a D-1 prospect based on his hockey ability.
D Matt Voigtlander 07' An all-around athlete. Had a 95 mph slap shot in bantams. Could have been a USHL prospect but chose to pursue a full D-1 athletic scholarship for football at NDSU.
D Brady Lundblad 00' Had a great career at Centennial as a defenseman. Went on to St. Johns where he won 3 MIAC season championships 1 MIAC tourney and skated in 2 NCAA tournaments. Played juniors for Bozeman Ice Dogs in AWHL (NAHL).
4th Line
W Ben Ollila 04' Member of 04 State Champs. Small but speedy forward. Went on to Gustavus.
W Jordan Lovick 10' Member of 06 Bantam A state champs and runner up in 07. A very shifty forward with explosive skills. Had totals of 19g/34a as a sophomore and 5g/11a in elite league this year. should be a USHL and D-1 prospect.
C Jordan Singer 07' Great hands and a hard competitor. Led Cent in scoring as a senior. Drafted 51 overall by souix falls in 07 USHL draft but ended up at Southern MN totaling 13g/17a in 57 games. Now at Bismark with 7g/13a in 23 games.
D Craig Henry 06' Member of 04 State Champs. Finished high school with 50 career points before moving on to Gustavus.
D Tony Palma 06' Member of 04 State Champs. Finished high school with 51 career points before moving on to Augsburg to play baseball and football.
Goalies
[/b]Jack Hanna 08'Was an outstanding tender as a sophomore going 9-0-1 and offered a spot on USNDT but declined. Had mediocre junior and senior years, but still one of the best in the state. Is now playing in nets for the U of M Crookson along with golf.
Greg Stutz 04'Had a lot of help in front of him but only goalie to ever shut out all three state tournament games. Played one game in NAHL for Fairbanks before moving on to St. Mary's.

Joey Cotton made these guys. He was the reason they had success and are the players they are. He taught them respect, responsibility and how to love the game. Without him they would less.4theloveofthegame wrote:Little Falls:
