I see the Elite II hand picked all star team could only manage to win one game in the Nike Bauer, finishing 4th out of 5 teams in thier pool (a rather weak one at that).

Still think the Elite II league was not "watered down"?

watered down? the team had 4 practices and played 3 games before heading down. the teams they played have been together all summer if not longer. they weren't expected to go down and win it, it was for exposure. Also not the best kids in the Elite 2 were representing, they still had to pay and a few of the better kids didn't go. most were from the 3AA/A team.

It wasn't "hand picked" from the league as a whole. It was picked from the players that said they would play on it at the beginning of the season.

Yes - I believe you had to be a '92 or younger to compete at the U16 level in Chicago. Have to still admit surprise at how poorly the MN kids performed and represented MN in a big AAA tournament. If this is our Elite group of kids, the rest of the country might be leaving MN in the dust. I think I heard (or read) that their bracket wasn't even particularly strong!

I believe that PF Changs and Detroit Honey Baked are good programs.

They practice together every day. Our MN kids are not that tough any more. It is the facts. We need more tough competition not less. We need to acknowledge that Elite is not an accurate term for where our players are.


I think the Philadelphia Flyers played tough too!

Didn't age play a factor in who was selected to play?

The list above is of league leaders from all players that were part of Elite II not just the group that went to Chicago.

The team that went to Chicago was 92's that indicated they were interested in going down there (on their registration form) and willing to spend the extra money. Some chose not to go but the team that went was a good group of players.

For those questioning our success down in Chicago, keep in mind that some of the strongest 92's made the regular Elite league and therefore were not abel to be a part of this. I also think that they played pretty well against good competition. Sometimes the score doesn't reflect how competitively close the game was.

If you think the best players from Elite II went to Chicago, you are sadly mistaken. If you think the best 92's went there as well, you also, are sadly mistaken.

Parents don't need to spend the extra 500 it costed, and some kids just aren't that interested in going to Chicago for one lousy tournament. It's not like this was the USA cup or something crowning America's finest.
