I'm saying the entire program is built around unhappy parents that feel they are to good or there child was held back (another form of they are to good)

Again read my post. You are wrong. Kids choose to play for the Fire for whatever reason, and because this is America... that is perfectly fine.
I'm willing to say that everyone goes there because they feel in someway that they are to good for your association.
Nothing to do with the fact that they may want something more than the association has to offer?
More icetime
Different Coaching
Get away from annoying parents No behind the scenes politics of who makes team?
Wants to play with some other friends?
Play in some great tournaments?
goinbardown, did they crush you hopes that your team would win the Squirt state title this season?
You have just no idea what you're talking about and have a severely diluted opinion of something you're not part of. Every time you open your mouth here you sound less and less educated on youth hockey. The same typical statements "better than everyone", "paying for trophies", these statements are the furthest thing from the truth and are simply ignorant.
You're vision of AAA hockey and those that take part in it is based on what?
Have you ever lived outside of Minnesota and had a player play hockey? I'm guessing not, otherwise you would realize that the FIRE are just one of 100's of AAA teams littered across the US and Canada.
Have you ever been part of the FIRE organization? I'm guessing NO. Hence why I say, you should really just change your tune because it simply isn't fair to the an organization that is providing a place for a kid to play, to put it down without being part of it or having first hand experience. WHen you've played a season of FIRE hockey, then talk to us.

Again, probably the most ignorant statement ever uttered on the board
A word of caution, AAA teams by definition like to compete at the highest level, what happens next year or the year after when billy, johny, and timmy improve enough to make the fire team and the club needs to cut returning players?, at the 98 level I'd bet its still the quick little guys who dominate...players develop, things change. Will it be an easy transition back to association hockey for those in this difficult situation. If you haven't considered this in your decision maybe you should. I'm familiar with the 92 and 93 years and a good portion of the best players from 5 years ago are no longer the studs they had been pegged as. Most fire players will eventually end up back in the communities they reside, lets hope these kids aren't made to pay for the route they took.
I feel really stupid. I would have bet big money that goinbardown was a hockey kid. To find out that's he's a dad is a scary thing. You kind of expect to find these kinds of jealous rants coming from kids who don't know any better.
Most of us on here love MN hockey and having our kids play for their associations. We also love AAA club hockey in the off season and the kids get to make great friendships from all over the state. Then when they play against their AAA buddies in the winter season - it's great fun!! I feel kind of sorry for you goinbardown. You're really missing out on some of the great things about youth hockey in the state of MN.
Also, some communities can't field competitive A teams so having the Fire club as an alternative for the top players from those communities is a great thing. Either way - they won a big national tournament. Just congratulate them already!!
The WI FIRE are the greatest hockey program in all America. Everyone who doesn't make the team needs quit hockey all together. Everyone goes there because they skate perfect hours, have former NHL coaches and all the parents get along. Also there is no politics because its the Fire and it isn't anything like we've ever seen before.

goinbardown is probably correct, although maybe not the greatest program in all America, the 98 Fire are probably the best playing team in North America at the 98 level right now. I hope they can continue. The 95 and 97 Fire are also doing well. I think the Fire is a great alternative for some players and families. The Fire is developing a reputation of strong coaching and great players who are highly motivated. Good luck Fire.
that GOINBARDOWN, or whatever sounds like a truly uninformed idiot.
Do you even know the roster of the 98 Fire? These teamates ARE their friends! They have played with them for two years now. If you would pay attention, they 98 Fire was fueled by the desire of the kids to be able to continue playing with the same kids as they do during the off-season (Machine) and the same structure. It really seems to be a year-round machine team w/o the MMade connection. Do you really think the "DADS" enjoy traveling around the midwest every other weekend? They have families too and other children and commitments also. Choices is what it is all about.
You really can't care if I voted for Obama of McCain now do you??

As I watch history and share my personal frustration tonight as the exit polls come to the forefront... I suggest :Goinbardown to walk away from this topic:
We all choose many reasons for our decisions... in regards to hockey because this is what the topic is, you don't know. Don't generalize, don't assume... you sir/madam are wrong. My grandson had some association teammates leave for the Fire a few years ago....His outlook was much more different than the parents of current association members. He said if the opportunity arose for him he would have taken the Fire as well. I think we give our youth little credit sometimes..they not only are better hockey players then when I was their age, but they are smarter as well.
The "too good for association theory does not fly" What about the good hockey player from a small association whom wants more competition? Or the kid whom had a issue with the Association coach for whatever reason? Or the kid whom wanted to play with other AAA friends because they are better friends then school peers? Let it go, the playground is bigger, we have the internet now... Overall are we closer to our college friends or are high school friends? Which ones did you end up having the most in common with?.... Birds of a feather flock together.
Stop fighting outside opportunities and instead get MN Hockey to assist local associations to see what they can do BETTER... Competition is America.. quit and whine or make your program better. And yes MN Hockey should do more for the local youth program, in recruiting, retention, and coaches training.
goinbardown wrote:what I meant to say was congrats to the dads on the team for spending there money on a nice trophy that no one cares about.
whether you care for his honest opinion or not- that was just plain funny how he stated it.
Really. you found that funny ? Then again having read your quips unrelated to the topic on EVERY topic I can see it doesn't take much for you to find something funny. I picture you cracking yourself up while you type responses you think are hilarious. oh well nothing hurt so continue with the responses every once in awhile you write a good one.
Preemptive defense ... not involved or even know anything about fire and if kids had fun good for them. People can spend money however they want and it doesn't have to help MN hockey.
Fellas,
Hasn't your mummma's tought you that if you have nothing good to say that you should say nut-n-honey.....................now I feel the need for a bowl of cereal.
Try-outs and team selections for the FIRE are made in June. Months before association tryouts. So to speculate that they didn't make the grade they wanted in association is totally wrong. FIRE formed long before association.
