Sick of Miami

Post by Sauce2122 »

just wondering, is anybody else sick of miami getting high national ranks every year, they never do anything in the post season. I think if they're gunna get those ranks, they need to sack up and play someWCHA teams and see how they do

Congrats Joe! You'll be in the CCHA with a former teammate!!

Speaking of getting national ranking and never doing anything post-season.... do the SCSU Huskies ring a bell??

Considering the WCHA hasn't had a team in the national championship game these past two seasons, that's a bit of a lofty statement you're making there.

2000 North Dakota
2001 Boston College over North Dakota
2002 Minnesota
2003 Minnesota
2004 Denver
2005 Denver over North Dakota
2006 Wisconsin

Seven straight years with at least one WCHA team in the championship. Six of which were won by the WCHA. They're due after two off-years. I look for CC or Denver or maybe even Minnesota to find themselves playing for the national championship.

Who wants to bet BC beats UND in the Frozen Four and that they score six goals. That's happened three staight years, very odd.

If there is a team that has done nothing in the post-season.. SCSU, 0-8 in NCAA visits... I'm not dissin' them, but everyone gets all excited with their ranking, but what have they done to earn it?

Every year is a clean slate, at least after the first month. SCSU deserves to be where they are, and just may break that jinx this year.

And plus its not like Rankings are based off of how a team did last season....Miami's records the past 2 seasons have been 33-8-1 and 24-14-4....very respectable. I don't think people give enough credit to the CCHA. They have very competitive teams. Michigan, Michigan State, Miami, and Notre Dame would all fair pretty well in the WCHA. You can't be too hasty and say the CCHA is a bad conference because of their post season play.

They do it for the Big 10, why not the CCHA?

Because the Big 10 only has one good team (if we're talking football).

How often do teams from the CCHA (or any conference for that matter) play top teams from outside their conference? Not very often. That is why the playoffs (much like bowls in football) are used to gauge how good a team is. Win the big games and you'll get big respect.

And for the record, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin and even Michigan a few years ago have been considered top teams in the last few years only to get dismantled in bowl games. Even the mid-level teams playing other conference's mid-level teams haven't fared so well.

So lets take a look at Michigan's season last year...Beating BC, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and BU. Are those quality wins? Truth is that college teams don't play heavy out of conference games. The difference between Big Ten football and WCHA/CCHA hockey is that in football the whole season (record, strength of schedule, ect.) is factored into what bowl game you play....in NCAA hockey its win or go home...I don't think it's fair to compare the different playoff systems. I'm not trying to say the CCHA is a stronger conference than the WCHA. Just trying to say that the CCHA is a respectable conference, with the top 4-5 teams being fairly competitive.

As for the Big Ten football scene, I really hope that Penn State can beat OSU. Being a Michigan fan, I'm just sick of seeing the Buckeyes win the conference every year. Plus it would be great to see Joe Pa go out on top (assuming he would recognize when it's time to go.)

im not saying there conference is weak, and in no way hating on michigan, they're sick I would just like to see miami come play in like a mini tourny like the mariuci classic. It would be sweet to see like colorado college u of m michigan and miami in that instead of most years where only weaker teams play in it.

Agreed. Mariucci classic has been weak the past couple of years. The Ice Breaker Invitational here in St. Paul was a good way to kick off last season.
