The girls U10 AAA Minnesota Ice Cougars will be conducting tryouts for the 2009 season. The Ice Cougars are a nonprofit corporation that is affiliated with the Minnesota Icemen Hockey Club. Listed below are the tryout details:

Tryout Cost: $20
TEAM INFORMATION

Season Calendar: Late March, April, May, August and early September
Practice Location: Maple Grove Community Center & other arenas in the surrounding area.
# of Hours: Approximately 60-70 hours of development not including scrimmages and tournaments
Cost of Program: Approximately $900 – U10 Ice Cougars are a Nonprofit Corporation

Player Development: Focused on individual skill development and team concepts. Team concepts include defensive zone coverage’s, fore-check, puck cycling in offensive zone, neutral zone transition, power play and penalty kill.
Other Sport Philosophy: U10 AAA Ice Cougars encourage participation in other sports (softball, soccer, etc…) but we expect the Ice Cougars hockey program to be the priority over all other hockey programs during the Ice Cougars season. The U10 Ice Cougars take time off in the summer to allow the kids (and parents) to enjoy other sports and family activities but when the season is in session 100% attendance is preferred unless another sport conflicts with practice times.

There have been email questions asked about what tournaments will they be participating in - the answer is that there are a number of tournament options that include U10 participants and that the tournament selection will happen over the next sixty days with the intent of all three tournaments being local.
