Don't do it. If it's the same as last summer, it's not worth the expense. Just my opinion, but the teams involved were very, very weak. The tourney in Philadelphia was a huge money maker for One Hockey. The even instituted the 10 run rule(something I'd never seen in hockey) when a team got ahead by 10 - game over

First period, third period, whenever. There were games that were over in the 1st. Not exactly getting your money's worth on two fronts. Didn't get the ice time you paid for, and didn't have any competition. Promised scouts were very scarce as well. Like I said, just an opinion.

We have went a couple of times. If its fun and a vacation you want. Deffinately go. But the other comments where true.

I went to the website and lo and behold, the Mite champs last year were from Florida! I knew one kid pretty well and had seen another play. Probably a fun week at the young ages.

My son has played in the Philadelphia tournament two summers and the competition is not predictable at all. One year they had a couple strong French speaking teams from Quebec and weak teams for AZ and CA, another year they had strong teams made up of players from US AAA teams like Compuware, Bell Tire and Little Caesars and weak Canadian/European teams. All-in-all he had fun and being in Philly over the 4th of July was fun. He also met kids from all over the country and Canada (on his teams) and several European players (still text messages some). The coaching was not bad, he had a minor league pro coach one year and an ex-NHL player with a Canadian AAA coach as an assistant the other.

Be very very careful with this guy at OneHockey...he is a money maker.

Sounds like Pride trips - go for the overall travel experience and the sights - not necessariy for a great, developmental hockey experience.

I'm sure he makes money, but I think it was about $400 and we got 5-7 games and 2 practice/scrimmages in Philly. The kids also got a jersey, socks, breezer covers, a hat and an Easton style wind jacket with the included package. They sell lots of other stuff like videos on the teams games, a large assortment of logo wear, sticks and the like. Like any travel tournament the travel costs more that the tournament.

At least with the Pride, there was considerably better competition. The two seasons my son went, most if not all of those kids are playing on varsity rosters throughout the state.

I don't know about some of the naysayers but my son and our whole family had a great time at the onehockey tournament. My kid cannot wait to go back next year and has made a lot of new friends from all over the place. Really, it was refreshing tournament experience for us, not just the same ol same ol game at a rink against the same ol kids. The competition was good, and you could tell they put a lot of time and energy into making the kids feel special, we couldn't be happier. We are looking forward to next year.
