As those familiar with my posts have stated, no disrespect was meant to the Crunch players or organization. As part of the Boston Shamrocks, we too will take our lumps, beginning with a shillelagh upside the head in a 6-0 loss to the Ottawa Senators. And like the Crunch, our success will not be measured by the won-loss record, but by the improvement in the games of our players. While we would certainly like to win games, and enter each contest with an intent to do so, our primary goal is to develop our players so that each leaves the program with more than they came into it with. Our goal is to add that missing element, whatever it may be, to each player's skillset, so that they have a chance at playing at the next level, be it DIII or D1.

Did you have to look up the spelling for "shillelagh" in the dictionary, or is it one of those things that Bostonians just know? It's always been one of my favorite words--I use it often in speech but I've never written it before. It's spelled almost cooler than it sounds, and now that I know.......
Hux, in my 'cartoon bubble' I picture you as a leprechaun.

Go Crunch, Go Shamrocks! How can anyone not root for these teams!

Is this an exhibition series? Looks like you named an opponent with high school sophomores and juniors on it. Appears like a AAA team. Are these the teams the Crunch will play throughout the year or are they playing against other teams that have girls that have graduated? Not that familiar with girls hockey is why I ask.

The Northern Starrzz are indeed a team of high school allstars. many of whom have Division 1 written all over them. In our first year of play and the travel costs as they are we are fortunate to live in a part of the country where talent such as this can be put togetherl In addition it benefits our highschool players in Minnesota being able to play against this type of competition. Personally I think it will be a very good game. Our program is a developmental program, meaning we are stiving to enhance the skills and abilitites of our players. We are thankful for the Northern Starzz stepping up and helping us out. We will of course play other top teams. Balmoral Prep School, Shattuck St Marys, ThunderBay Queens, Madison Capitals Wisconsin Wild, All of which are also in the U19 level of play. We leave this Coming Tuesday for Hamilton Ontario and Staony Creek Tournament before returning home for a tournament in St Cloud. In our first year we will take games where we can get them. Remeber were the new kids on the block here and even with a $30,000
travel budget this year we will struggle for the 60 games we want. I think you will find the Northern Starzz as a great team and one which will deliver plenty of action.

My daughter and I were at a nearby table in the restaurant Friendly's in Vermont with the Crunch and I feel this group is very good for girls/women’s hockey. They got along well and were having FUN. I watched a couple of their games and they play hard. I wish them the best of luck this season.

Crunch drop thriller in home opener

Post by Media »

In its home opener everyone looks for a win and that win eluded the Minnesota Crunch in the first minutes of overtime at the IRA Civic Center tonight Molly Arola and Shelby Amsly Benzie were the largest shining starzz as Arola tallied 3 while Amsly Benzie held the Crunch at Bay for the first half of the game. The Crunch looked nervous and without poise in the first 10 miutes of the game and fell behind quickly 3-0 after one. THe 2nd period was all Crunch as they roared back bringing the second stanza to an end with a 4-4 tie. Aly Lund, Jess Bye and Ali Parizeck shined for the Crunch most of the game The teams traded goals in the third sending the the game into a five minute overtime. An erant shot handcuffed goaltender Brittni Flachman for the Crunch and ended the event as the puck rolled over the goal Line.
The Crunch and Northern Starzz face off again tommorow at 2:00pm at the Ira Civic center in Grand Rapids. a crowd of approximatly 700 people
attended the inauguaral game St Cloud Stae and Bemidji State University were in attendance.

Crunch game

Post by wild77 »

Good game. After the first period I thought the Crunch dictated play. They played a physical style of hockey and were strong on the puck. It was a great oppurtunity for these younger girls to play an up tempo physical style that they don't see too foten in high school. Fun game fun atmosphere. I'll be back for today's game...and some more of those grouse!

Great Games of little solace to Crunch

Post by Media »

While fans at the IRA Civic Center saw two great games this weekend it does not take the sting out of it for the Minnesota Crunch. For the second game in a row the Crunch fell just short of the win as the Northern Starzz handed the Crunch its second loss of the weekend 3-2. Emma Stauber, Karely Sylvestor, and Crunch killer Molly Arola score for the Starzz. While once again Ali Parizek put the Crunch on the board, with Dayna Sherman chipping in for the 2nd Crunch goal. Goaltender Jen Coyle was superb in goal for the Crunch While Katrina Smith and Shelby Amsly Benzie stayed strong in goal for the Starzz.
In the closing seconds of the final stanza Casey McMullen fired a shot beating Amsly Benzie over the shoulder a second after the clock expired, leaving the Crunch frustrated for a second straight night.
The Crunch will return to practice tommorow before leaving on a 5 day road trip to Sault St Marie , and Hamilton Ontairio.

Although losing is always tough the good competition provided by the Starzz and playing in such close games over the weekend should prove beneficial to the Crunch as they head to Sault St Marie and Hamilton for games there.

Crunch pound Wild Cats 9-4

Post by Media »

Sault St Marie - Coming off two heart breaking losses the Minnesota Crunch rallied at the expense of the Sault St Marie Wild Cats here Wednesday Night dumping the home team 9-4. Ali Parizek, Emily Haluska, Janae Hoeft, all had multi goal games for the Crunch. Haluska gained one of hers on a penalty shot following a Wild Cat player freezing the puck in the crease. The Crunch continue on to Stony Creek where they open play on Friday.
