Bruggeman will be the backbone for the Scarlets next year. Hayden Schauer is a pretty good goalie and hes a tenth grader. I dont know if he wants to play hockey anymore however.

Bruggeman will be the backbone if he stays or if he goes to juniors. Also, heard some things about that Schauer kid that may not have him play, so good place to go could be West.

Yes I know alot about Schaurers situation and my guess he will not be playing next year.

East will have a Sr. and a Jr. goalie returning if they both go out. Neither had much varsity playing time. Their main starter graduated. They also tried out a younger goalie who chose to stay in bantams. If this new goalie opts to enroll at East he'll have a better chance to play some varsity than if he went to West. Plus East will have something like 11-12 returning starters the next 2 years which is a good situation for any goalie.

'heard' he had good potential, but may only be a freshman this coming season.

yes. I was told he was an 8th grader last year and didn't want to move up to the high school level at that age, which is usually a wise decision. In any event the new goalie would certainly have at least a shot at one of the varsity spots at East. West returns both their regular goalies. They lose half their starters from their state team to graduation this spring and will lose most of the rest next spring.

DUPioneers30 wrote:Do you think the freshman can beat out the new goalie (if he does move) for a spot at varsity?
having never seen either goalie I can't give an opinion. But a freshman starting or evening making a varsity roster is a rarity. It's either out of neccessity, because a team has no one else, or he's a phenom such as Kangas from Century a couple of years ago, which doesn't happen that often. Even if a freshman and a sophmore were close in talent, the older kid would get the nod most of the time, barring an attitude or scholastic issue.
