TS. I went to the coach and someone else involved in the league...they were aware of my concerns...or should I say they were offended by my concerns..Please do enlighten me on the work involved in putting together this league? I am sure there is some:

Garnering lists of potential tryout skaters
Sending out initial tryout letter
Tryouts (the hiring of officials to evaluate talent)
scheduling tryout ice arena's
Scheduling Ice Times
Hiring of ref associations to cover games
Paying Bills
Dividing the spoils.

Am I missing anything?

Does that pretty much cover it?

You seem to forget the Practice ice, jerseys and socks for 240 players, hotels and money for the 2 coaches of each team. If Bill and the rest get $5000 fine with me better them than you. Based on the fact you mentioned "it is run by people you do not like very much" I would say that tells me that you might not be on thier xmas card list either.

Let see you were on here complaining about the Xposure Camp and stated that wasn't good enough for you either and what a waste of money that was. Yet who is responsible for for the Xposure Camp ?? The same guy that runs the USHL SHowcase. Now you are telling us how much of a waste Elite 2 is yet you drove down to Chicago for USHL Camp. You problay won't go to any of the NAHL tryouts as that isn't the ELITE Jr hockey program. Sounds like the USHL paid enough attention to YOU so that made YOU feel like your kid was getting the right attention. By the way the Xposure Camp is run by the same guy that is in charge of the USHL Showcase Camp. His Xposure Company vs his fulltime job looks like he got his money out of you twice.

Still sounds like you never went to the league director. If you followed the chain of command and were not seeing the results you expected for your investment, that is where you failed. That is the point where you should have went to the league director.

As far as your list of items involved in putting the league together, that seems fairly close. You forgot working with the Boston contacts and the Boston trip last Fall. Working with the high school coaches association contacts along with MN Hockey. Also finding coaches and GM's is missing. This would be the very same list involved with any league, not sure where you are going with this line of thought.

PN69-Seems you have quite an interest in what I say...wonder why? I went to Exposure on the recommendation of the HS Coach...turned out exposure wasn't as good as people claimed it was in the past...Bob Turow does not run Exposure as far as I know....I went to the Chicago Camp on the recommendation of a close friend...I thought it was good. I do take real offense to the YOU reference made above. It really does not mean a thing to me..I could care less about any of this...I do not play. However, I think it is obvious to everyone reading that there are people who do care about this league and bad press it may get...I have spoken to the experience I had and to the finances involved and have been ridiculed for my opinion by those who work for this league...The reference made about not liking the people included a couple people within are own section..not the league...dont know them...however, the facts are the facts. I wouldn't pay for this league and I have stated my reasons why...as for the rest of you it's up to you to make your own decision..It's always good to have a couple points of view before deciding...on this one I am on the other side of the coin...I just dont see the value, development or point to the league.

Nope-really wasn't that upset to go to league director...figured it was just the nature of the beast. Plus-once you get on the badside of league directors then your kid can be blackballed because of 'pyscho' parent attitude. Not really interested in getting that label...but I am open on this bored with my opinion...which is just that an opinion...As I am sure you know, you cannot satisfy everyone...I am usually easily impressed but for some reason this league just struck me the wrong way.

HOFam'r wrote: Another loud endorsement of Elite Too Hockey! Like I said...I would not do it again and dont believe it helps a lick unless you are a bantam trying to make the high school team. It is a HUGE money maker regardless of what anyone says. The attitude above is why we have too many choices as Hockey parents...people are consumed in making sure Little Joey has a 'we are Elite Too' hockey jersey. Parents there are sharks out there feeding on your billfold...please dont feed the sharks boys...if joey is good enough they will ask him to play elite 1 and then you'll know you have something.
So just put the skates away and call it quits if you don't get asked to skate for the Elite 1 or don't make a team? My son doesn't play for Roseau, Hill nor Edina so I guess I should just tell him to quit go live in the basement and play computer games non stop, cause his HS team will never have a chance at making as he is not playing for one of the ELITE HS Teams! The league may have had a rough start when your player skated but it has made strides in the right direction. You are just one of the parents that paid a lot of money through the years on nothing but hockey (forgetting that education does matter) and now that your kid is done and you have nothing else to do you just want to blame someone else for your kid no getting that D1 scholarship. Thanks for the input but my son and my money will take our chances with the ELITE 2 again this year. Bad hotels, sharks and all.

Have at it! Like I said some people might feel differently but I know how i feel...throw some weights in that basement and run outside and skate in a cheap 4 on 4 league close to home if you dont play football and you will light years ahead of elite too. Sorry, but the experience I had was terrible.
The Elite 2 is a good league for player development IMO, especially for high level players making the adjustment from Bantam hockey to HS hockey...it really helped my son progress in preparation for his sophomore HS season.

Now for kids going into their junior years, while it's not nearly as good as Elite 1...its still much better than anything you could do with you're HS team in the fall (or 4 on 4 leagues) so its still worth doing IMO.

My son played Elite2 for Section 4AA/4A in 2005 and we we carried 13 forwards, 6 defenseman and 2 goalies... so 1 forward and 1 D was healthy scratched for each game. Does playing 4 lines suck regarding number of shifts you get?.. yes...but that's the way it's going to be going forward in Elite 1, Juniors and D1 hockey...so kids better get used to it if they want to move on to those levels.

Is it expensive, sure...but so is Elite 1, Model Camp, MN Selects, etc...but hopefully the experiences a player gains along the way....(whether they play beyond HS or not) justify the money spent in the long run. :)

When does the Elite I & II start, is it just on the weekends & where do they play, is it held in Blaine? Any games played in Duluth area? Are players selected or do they tryout, if so can they tryout for different teams, or is it a section thing where they have to tryout in there section only. Is there tryout dates, times or places? if so does anybody have a list, or a players list or no where to find one if teams are pre-selected. If pre-selected who selects them and what is the selection based on?

Starts in the beginning of Sept. Tryouts are usually in Aug. Tryouts are usually by invitation, but you probably call the directors and get into the tryouts. Whichever section the player is in is the team he would tryout for, with the exception of a few southern based Sec. 7 schools. Most of the games were in Blaine on weekends only, although Duluth hosted a weekend, and there was one weekend at Shattuck. Check the website for more info.
