It certainly is an open forum, so I'm sure any way you decide to do it is fine with most readers and participants here.Media wrote:Im not sure why it matters to you but sure not a problem, Just an attempt to give each player a moment in the sun .I didnt know there was a limit on threads imposed.
I know that I've enjoyed following all the developments with this team, and can appreciate that it's no easy task building a new type of program like this from scratch. It's great to see all of the pieces starting to come together!
Grand Rapids- The Minnesota Crunch are pleased to announce multiple signings today with the addition of Dayna Sherman from Litchfield / Dassel /Cokato and Alex Jo Weise from Aberdeen South Dakota. Both players bring a dedication and hard work to the table. Both Girls Have the personalities that make your team better just by having them there. We are pleased and excited that these players will be with us this year Every team needs lunch bucket players Dayna and Alexa bring that to our squad.
Leading scorer in Wisconsin comes to Crunch
Grand Rapids_ At 6:00pm Friday night The MInnesota Crunch receieved a call they have been waiting for. Emily Haluska the first team All State, Mss Hockey finalist out of the Point/Rapids Red panthers Committed to The Minnesota Crunch . Haluska Lead the State of Wisconsin in scoring tallying 32 goals and 27 assists while amassing 59 points for her high school squad while taking only 18 minutes in penalties. When we heard of Emilys interest we sent staff out to watch her play. It didnt take long for a call telling us Emily is every bit as good as her billing. Emily and her parents came to Rapids last weekend to meet with Coach Marrinuci. Emily has all the attributes we are looking for in our players both on and off the ice. Haluska joins fellow Wisconsin player Amy Lund to as a member of the Crunch in their inaugural season. When great players like these are still available at this time of the year we feel as though we have beat the system said Dan Clafton. We are as with all the players we sign, excited to have Emily on our squad .

Can't help but notice that half of the players are from out of state--ND or Wisconsin. This might be a naive question, but could it be that these girls don't get the same exposure to DI and DIII coaches that Minnesota players do? It seems that Minn HS players get many oppurtunities over the course of the year to play in front of college coaches and scouts, including the Christmas tournaments and the Sections and State, besides all the special 'Select' tournaments in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Maybe our Minnesota girls should count their blessings.
One of the reasons there is a need for a program like this, or for the Thoroughbreds, is evident in where players are coming from. As you noted, there are always solid players who don't get the exposure, but more importantly there are players who might well have the latent talent but have not refined their skills or game sense to play at the next level. Some of that can be attributed to being late bloomers, some to coaching, some to the level of play they have been accustomed to.Bensonmum wrote:Can't help but notice that half of the players are from out of state--ND or Wisconsin.
The Crunch will give them an opportunity to elevate their games and in the process showcase these girls so that they might have an opportunity to move on to the next level. Here in New England we are doing the same thing with the Boston Shamrocks, and at tryouts we drew players from five of the six New England states. While the Shamrocks are a U19 team and follow the model of the Thoroughbreds, the intent is the same as the Crunch. We are seeing kids that are solid players, but because of where they are living/playing they aren't getting the development they really need to realize their potential.

Crunch say HI to BYE
GrandRapids- The Minnesota Crunch are pleased to announce the committment of Jess Bye from Brainerd Minnesota to this years inaugural team. Dan Clafton General Manager of the Crunch said "in signing Jess Bye we have attained a player we felt was over looked by many prestigious colleges and clearly under estimated her potential for growth.
Upon her committment I called coach Marinucci and informed him Clafton went on to explain, to say I made his day would be an understament. Jess Bye continues our trend of quality players on and off the ice. Any one that knows Jess understands her ability to lead a team both with Skill and attitude. THe Minnesota Crunch home opener is Sept 13/14th in Grand Rapids Minnesota.

Congrats to Jenae...anytime an athlete can continue to play the sport they love its exciting. Can't help but think you are criticizing the GRG coaching staff with the comment about her being under utilized. Isn't the Crunch going to be housed at the IRA Civic center? I wonder of those coaches read these posts. Good luck Jenae
Interesting
Hmm for a guy who was questioning if a certain coach would be at a certain game in some of your previous posts your criticism of my writing is confusing. Unless I am not entitled to my opinion I will continue to write as I see it . And yes we do play at the civic center and Im not sure what your point is there either. It is no secret I have my opinions on things. I dont always have to agree with decisions, it doesnt mean I dont respect them.
