They would be the DJ. On entry to the big dance, all teams walk over SCC - the doormat.

I think Marshall is going to get blown out by Falls,Virginia,or Hibbing. Their all supposed to have a good team next year. I am sick of Marshall. It's not right they recruit players every year. If their so amazing why don't they move up to AA?

You got that right. I think they both shot well over 10000 pucks this summer and lifted weights every day.

Outstanding player. It will be a very tough time for the Falls without him on the team next year. I can't wait to watch him and Ness player for the Gophers in 09'.

I don't think it will drop enormously. He is a very good player too. Size can be deceiving. He can skate, pass, and shoot.

Sounds like you might be jealous. How many state championships for Marshall"Daddy's Money". Jake may not be all that. But he has character and talent to back it up. I know his work ethic and I don't see that leveling off. Some kids with talent don't work and are good. He has talent and works at it and it shows. He can also be a good supporting role unlike alot of high school phenoms that the game is all aout them. How many D-1 standouts come from Marshall?

Not sure about standouts, but here we go:
Rob Bordson  Scott Kozlak, Brandon Johnson. At least there's hope for Jack Connolly  Help me out if there's more...

Why would someone not cheer for a guy from northern MN. Apparently there're all underdogs. Except the guys from Marshall. But when it really comes down to it, I cheer for all guys from MN. They've all earned it. I haven't met a kid or seen a kid play who didn't deserve a D1 scholarship in MN. We've got THE greatest youth and high school program in the nation. It's arguable, but not deniable. We should be proud of where OUR players go, not other players. Just because they don't develop into NHL players doesn't mean they don't deserve to play D1.

Stand Outs are usually above and beyond the rest of the roster and Air Force a D-1 school, yea right. UMD, they're coming but give me a break.

"DADDY'S MONEY" funny I've heard city kids chanting it. And It is still original and true. Better than money sucking brats. Anything you want sonny, The best of the best. That'll get you that scholarship son. As for Jake we'll see what the future holds. These same things were said about Ben Gordon. Look at the map we're not on da range.

i was bored so i thought id resurect an old thread

ok first youso, yea he was great in highschool, but he is struggling in the USHL, so far in his career through 31 games he has 4 points and is -11 not exactly the stuff d-1 standouts are made of

now for some marshall alumni updates
kozlak at ariforce- 9 points in 14 games for the #10 ranked squad as a sophmore
Jack Connoly- 6th on the squad in points 11 in 14 games as a freshman
Chris Connoly- Jacks older brother has 10 points in 13 games as a freshman for the #7 ranked BU squad

im not saying any of them will win the hobey baker, buttheir futures look better than Youso's at this point.

Regarding Jake Youso...I think his future will be just fine...he simply isn't getting any PP time...which is where most players rack up points...but he is learning to play at a much higher level of hockey than HS...the fact is you need ice time to score points...hopefully Jake can work his way into more ice time as the season progresses.

Jack Connolly is a great example of how much a kid can improve in a couple years...in the Elite League his senior year he scored less than 15 points...but one year later he earned a top line position on the Sioux Falls USHL team, played with Jake Hansen and Dineen and ended up leading the USHL in scoring...and now is scoring points and playing great for UMD.

I'm guessing Max Starr or Mark Williams. Doubt you were better than him

no that would have required them to be on varsity, or marshall to play I-Fall's, either way rulz is lying

I watch a lot of hockey. This kid will be one of the Gophers better players by his Sophmore season. Two of the most important qualities of making a great D1 player is Speed and Hands. I,m afraid he has both which is rare. Secondly the Gophs will build his strength quickly. He needs that. But lets just see whos right here?

Jack Connolly is a rink rat with great hands and great speed. My point exactly with Youso. Same thing. The Gophs will build his strength as well. Both Youso and Connolly will have great College careers!

Exactly heres a guy who must know hockey. No clue who Boblee is but I can not emphasize how important skating is at the next level. You can hide it in HS but it will be exposed in D1. Speed Kills! Prime example Gerbe from BC last year. That kid could flat out fly and his feet wwere always moving. His hands were pretty darn good 2. I,m not talking Baldwin I,m saying D1 you need speed. Youso has that 2 step speed you don,t see often. Breakaway speed. Baldwin was a good skater and I agree I think he will have a ok year. Ladd Corrin was not in Youso,s league not even close but knew how to pick up the garbage well.

I haven't seen him play since before last season but...
Great Hands, Great Speed, Great Character, Someone in a previous post said he would be one of the Gophers best players as a soph, the tribune player of the year.
Something doesnt add up. He is on pace to have 6 points in full USHL season. Not getting PP time but he is that good? Come on, he is on the worst team in the USHL and is the lowest scoring forward for guys who play every night. In my book if you're not on the PP you're not one of the top 6 forward talent wise. I know different coaches use different types of players but it's a general rule of thumb.
He is lucky he was traded to the worst team in the league because it looks like he might have trouble making the roster on a better team.
Int Falls played a horrible schedule last year and like I thought it hurt roseau not playing anyone good all year, maybe it hurt Yuoso too making such a big jump from Tier II high school hockey to Tier I juniors.
