Between the pipes,

You are right to point out that none of us are giving Kirk enough credit. This is no excuse, but it is probably because not many people have seen him play in any "big" games. I know the kids really like him and he is always game ready.

He was good enough to make the Hill team (especially with Lechner being an ex goalie). It is good to hear that he is already working hard to prepare for next season.

If you have any more info on Kirk, please share it with us.

well i talked to him. and he was pretty bummed not to play this season cause he deffinitely loves the game and was almost thinking about hanging em up cause he wasn't playing. but then again he was behind the best goalie in the state on paper and according to the pioneer press. but I know that he was the MVP from a california league, as to how that compares to minnesota hockey i'd imagine it's less. but i guess this season that'll be put to the test.

Hill will be strong again next year, but goalie will easily be their biggest question mark. Maybe Altrichter is interested in playing AA...

If you switch to a different school AFTER your 9th grade year you have to play one full year of junior varsity unless your parents physically move to the new school district.

This is correct. However you do retain 1 year of eligibility at your old school. Joe Rubbelke did that this year. He is at North St Paul and played hockey for Johnson.

Replacing a good goalie is hard to do, oh wait a second they're a private school they will just recruit another one

So, some kid is going to school one place and playing hockey for the school's team where he used to go?

Is that for real?

Ill tel yah, you really have to hand it to the MSHSL.

We cant have kids changing schools but its OK to got to school A and play hockey for school B's team.

I think no one is giving Kirk enough credit though. The kid is from California last year and managed to make it into HM program. I heard from a few players he's skating over at impact this summer and not looking that bad. How can anyone say he doesn't have skill when they haven't seen him play. Besides at 6'1" 215 lbs even if he isn't good he's bound to stop alot of stuff. he'll work his rear end off this summer and I'd be willing to see him starting the big games

shaughnassey is good and will be a good starting goalie for hill murray for two years but i think he will be #2 this upcoming year due to lack of experience size or strength, the roster says 150 but i think he was weighed with his gear on while wet because he looks to be about 105. He's quick but still a little small, give him another year.

Sampair I don't see being on the var this year. He doesn't have the mental game or the pure talent that the other two have. Maybe another year on Jv and he'll realize what it takes to be a varsity player.?

It sure looks like Kirk has the "mental game" and "pure talent" for this team considering he will be watching from the stands this year...

ok, there is no way that basil sampair will be able to compete at the varsity level like other hill goalies in the past..he played "c" and "b" bantams at highland central! he was cut freshman year the first day and made jv last year cause they just lacked goalies loosing that transfer to mahtomedi..shunessy or however you spell that name moves well has great foot and hand speed and will be the starter in the bigger games..they made play sampair in games like richfield or north st. paul..and for those who think kirk mcginly was gonna take the spot your way off hes the slowest goalie i have ever seen step into the paint. Hill will need defensive help this year regardless of who is playing but i think shaunessy is by far the better of the two who made it.

C and B. Wow that kid must have worked hard to get where he is now. I heard he shut out grand rapids on friday. Both goalies have great potential.

Its pretty obvious that if i was Basil i wouldn't be saying Tim S has potential. Those two kids despise eachother.
