This is what I'm talking about.DadsMoney wrote:I disagree with the trend of the game being close in the end. I agree that it will be close, but the second half of the game will be Edina's. I have been watching Edina very closely this season. They have not only gotten better since the Holiday Classic; they are a completely different team. This change has all revolved around Budish emerging as one of the top players in state over the second half of the season.
In the first half of the season, the top unit felt a lot of pressure, feeling as though they had to carry the load. However, since Budish has turned it on, it has relieved much of this pressure and allowed the top line to be more defensive and conserve a lot more energy. The bottom line of Edina's evolution this year is that they are a much stronger team as the game wears on.
One thing that has also improved is their team defense, with the speed of their forwards, the defense rarely faces an odd man rush, and Cashetta will seldom face a clean shot. Edina is the real deal this season, I don't see Grand Rapids scoring more than one goal.
Prediction:
Edina 4
GR 1
Edina Vs Cloquet 11am 3/6 xcel

The hornets will win this game, but I disagree I think that last year's hornet team was better. Yes, they aged the sophomores but they have only two lines and four defensemen. The third line has not played in the playoffs and only played 4 shifts in section finals. Last year the hornets were much deeper. THey may make it past this game but they don't have the bench to win three games.DadsMoney wrote:Last year when the Hornets drew Grand Rapids I had a really terrible feeling Edina would lose. This is a much better Hornet team and the Jacks aren't nearly as solid as last years Thunderhawk team.
Hornets 6
Jacks 1

Though East-Cloquet is certainly far from being the classiest rivalry, it got a little bit of class injected into it today. The East captains and a couple of other seniors went to the Cloquet sendoff assembly to congratulate the Jacks and wish them luck. I thought this was a very nice gesture.
Now go Edina!

Classy kids, saw it on Channel 21 last night, inteviewed Rob Johnson, and then Dave Esse shook all their hands.
Must have been strange to enter enemy territory, but great move on the part of the HOUNDS.
Now go Edina!
Minutes to game-time and I got to get my butt in front of the tube. I hate picking against Edina in this one. I believe they will be better prepared than they were last year. Their top two lines are fabulous and Cloquet will most likely struggle at times in its own end. But I hate picking even more against a Northern team at any time, so I'm going with my heart in this battle.
