Sportsmanship

Hockeyma, you are my hero. You had the guts to state what you witnessed and point it out as a problem with sports today. I re-read all of your posts and not once did you seem to be a "sore loser" as hckymomx5 put it. In fact, you began this thread complimenting all of the teams who were advancing.
Last I checked, sportsmanship is core to what we should be teaching our kids in addition to the skills and team comraderie. Losing a game happens to all of us, some of us just do it more gracefully. Winning a game happens to all of us, some of us just do it more gracefully. Not an accusation, just a fact. As much as we would like to see it change, it will not totally go away. We can only instill in our own kids an attitude of respect, and hopefully, it will rub off on the others around them.
Thank you for your thread hockeyma, you were right to discuss it here. This is as they say, a chat room, for discussion about anything we want to discuss about the game of hockey. Anyone that thinks that sportsmanship is not a part of youth hockey, is just, well, REDiculous!
