Who do you want at 'THE SHOW'
Moderators: Mitch Hawker, east hockey, karl(east)
Well I got to say I was pleased about the outcome of tonights games. West, LF, Cloquet, Blake were all on my list of hopefuls. Now what I really want to see out of these teams is for LF or West to make it to the championship and for Cloquet to pull a Grand Rapids like run. I would also love to see Lakeville North or South win their first round game to make many experts on here choke on their posts. Upsets are always fun to see. Heck even the Soviets were intrigued by the emotion of a team no one gave a chance when they watch American kids celebrate the biggest upset in the history of the game. A Lakeville win over Edina or Roseau would be up there on the list of greatest upsets.

If possible: CEC - ROSEAU FINAL
I'm looking forward to seeing a ROSEAU Finals against Edina. Both teams are obviously incredibly strong at both ends of the ice. But, Roseau IS the team with the superior netminder, without question. And, as most hockey observers will agree, the team with the hot goaltender is probably THE team to beat when it comes to tournament play (a good team with a goalie doing magic tricks between the pipes will almost always beat an excellent team with a (merely) good goalie). And, Mike Lee is the REAL deal. He has a GAA of less than 0.9, a SV% of about 0.95, a perfect record as a varsity goalie, and experience leading the Rams to the Class AA championship in 2007. And, the team he's playing in front of is not merely "good." On top of that, he's from the HOCKEYTOWN in northern Minnesota with the greatest tradition of high school hockey, not only in the state but, probably, in all of the USA!!!

If you look at the number of times those teams have played against each other, Roseau has a vastly better all-time record.SB24 wrote:Sven- you say that when da ewe's are having a good year, just curious, did you say that in 2004 & 2005? Or how about over the last 20 years, i believe the record stand at 26 wins for Hockeytown USA, 20 for roso.

Did you have to search for a stat that actually is better than Roseau just so you can feel warm and fuzzy inside? You could do that with any two teams. For example: The past 3 years Roseau 5, Warroad 1. Look how easy that was. I'm going to go paint Hockeytown USA on some brick wall in Roseau and see if people start calling it Hockeytown USA too.SB24 wrote:Sven- you say that when da ewe's are having a good year, just curious, did you say that in 2004 & 2005? Roseau Rams are 2-0 this year over the Warroad Warriors!!
Seriously, if a town is going to label itself "Hockeytown USA", it needs to have the long-term mustard to back up the label, no?
Anyway you slice the Roseau-Warroad history, Roseau comes out on top.
I'd give the Warriors a tip of the hat if they would man-up and go to AA...and then win a couple of AA championships. But, until then...
