Marshall should have been seeded #1, but it's a toss-up between them and Warroad as to which team has the easiest quarterfinal matuchup. Book it: Marshall vs. Warroad at 11 a.m. Friday, a North team is guaranteed a spot in the Finals.

If Roseau is gonna repeat, they have by far the toughest route to go. First thru Blaine (an earlier win up at Baudette, but 1-0 win at that), then potentially Hill Murray, then potentially Edina. If they advance and go all the way, there's no doubt that it will be earned, and no doubt that they deserved to be #1.

How do they have the hardest route? Edina and BSM are on the other side of the bracket. I believe when those Edina and BSM play on Friday, that will be for the championship...

Roseau draws the hardest first round game IMO. If Edina or BSM looses before Friday, it's a major upset. I would not be shellshocked if Roseau looses to Blaine being the harder matchup. Thus, they have the hardest route to go to win it all IMO.

Slash, agreed. What more could Roseau hope for? A chance to put any questions to rest.

Blaine, then most likely Hill-Murray, and then Benilde, Edina, or a Woodbury team on a massive roll.
Be kind. Rewind.

The road to the state title is supposed to be hard. Things fell into place for them at state last year when some of the better teams got upset, but they had already proven themselves by beating Moorhead in the section final.

Go Rams!

How does St. Thomas get the #1 seed over Duluth Marshall. Very similar records and very similar losses. Every team should have had Duluth Marshall #1 because of their victory over St. Thomas.

I have no ties to any of these teams...but by far the sleeper in the Class A tourney is Mankato West.

The AA bracket looks pretty even to me. I'm not sure how anyone can say Edina has it easy against Cloquet. Good balance. IMO Hill has the easiest game, if there is one.

Agreed, it seems as though Hill-Murray got the luck of the draw as long as they show up from the start. While it's not a huge deal, I was a tad surprised at H-M getting seeded behind Benilde whom they beat early in the year. However I was shocked to see St. Thomas get a seed over Duluth Marshall. 8-2 loss in the year! Not sure where that came from...

What about Woodbury they're coming off a 8-2 win over Rosemount and they're on a 9 game winning streak. I think that BSM has the most to worry about in the 1st round.

Ditto on the rough draw for Roseau... Blaine beat the Rams in a scrimmage and looked tough against Centennial... Great field this year.

Cloquet 12-11-2 in regular season, including 5-1 and 7-1 losses to Edina and Blaine respectively late in the year, but played well to win the section. I'd say Hill and Edina has similiar first rounders, but IMO, far easier than Roseau's when you compare the matchups.

Yes but they were only seeded 3rd in their own section! Sure they're a good team, but I don't know what the Roseau fans are complaining about.

What a surprise. Hill "draws" was is thought to be the easiest team in the tourney both years they do the "random draw" thing. Conspiracy, baby!

As for first round matchups, BSM has the toughest game.

They don't get any easier than Hill's on Thursday. The only thing that keeps it from running time is Yumusaklar.

Funny, I don't seen anyone saying "Roseau got screwed", just a discussion on schedules. Why are you putting words into other's mouths?

Can someone tell me how they pick the seeds? Was it the coaches voting?

It is what it is...

For any team to win state, they have to beat three good teams
To be the best, you have to beat the best...

All I know is that is I can't wait for next week! Favorite weekend each year :D

Okay, mum's the word on my anniversary weekend being a close second...

I think Hill-Murray got the worst draw, not because South is great but because South has a hot goalie and Hill has melted down defensively and in goal in the state tournament the last 2 years.

2 of the top 4 seeds will lose.
