When do they seed the teams for state?
When will we know the state seedings for the top four teams?

They should just seed all eight. There's an unfair advantage. It gives favoritism towards the lower seeds by allowing the bottom four to go into a lottery. Yeah, anyone in the lottery can reasonably lose, but the whole system was designed for favoritism for cinderellas to have a better shot. Lakeville should be facing Roseau, and Cloquet against Edina presumably. I mean if it wasn't, then they have to explain the half-ranking.

When I think about it the ranking system is even worse in a way. Their half-acknowledging their fault. 'We know there should be merit given at the end of the year for team record, but we're only gonna give it to the Top 4 teams.' If the committee really wanted to be consistent they'd either rank all eight, or go back to where all the teams are lotteried like in years past. That way they're consistent and no one team is given special benefits.

Yeah, I mean some years ranking all eight could be a real -- pardon -- beeeech. No one is really that good and the whole ranking thing is really tough to rate. Some teams don't have tough schedules. Others have really tough schedules but mediocre records. Or you just go back to the eight team lottery. But then that means there are no rewards for records which I don't particularly agree with. So I'm not really sure there's a definitive right.

Yeah, I'm most likely wrong. The committee probably decided it should end after four. It wasn't meant as favoritism, just ranking the rest was too difficult.pondyplayer93 wrote:I agree 100%Nostalgic Nerd wrote:Yeah, I mean some years ranking all eight could be a real -- pardon -- beeeech.
