I just watched him take a slap shot that went over the net and then he proceeded to run a defenseman, for no apparent reason and go to the box again. What a waste of talent and lack of discipline and regard for his team and community.

Hyland got a cheap shot from behind into the boards, but it looked like Percy went up to him and apologized, maybe JT should take something from him. Brown's a great player but seems to be lacking totally in the class department.

Just got back from the game...Woodbury is awesome. What a slaughter in the section final. Woodbury looked iffy in the first, but came out in the 2nd ready to play...and continued into the 3rd. 7 unanswered goals against Rosemount...haha! Bring it on Roseau

Any chance for a #4 seed?

I don't think so but they do have a good team. I'd guess:

Roseau
Edina
Hill-Murray (if they win)
Benilde

Ok guys Rosemount obviously didn't have a great performance, but you guys need to show them a little respect, they worked their tails off this season and all you guys have to do is criticize every mistake they make, they had a great year, and the best so far in team history. Sure people do things that are un called for, but it's the game of hockey, and some of you guys need to relise that. As always there is a post about how JT did something wrong, but he also had the only goals for the Irish, he's a great player but can lose his temper at times.

I know i'm still a rookie in the posting game, but i've been reading this board for a couple years now. If you haven't figured it out, get used to people critisizing a team, thats pretty much the point of this place. I respect JT's talent, but if he loses it like he did people bashing him on the board has to be expected.
Stay Classy, Minnesota.

Anyone who's doubted Woodbury should be silenced after tonight they were a better team than Rosemount no doubt. They came out slow in the 1st but absolutly dominated the 2nd and 3rd periods, these guys are for real!

Any doubters of Woodbury wish to speak up now? That was an absolutely dominant performance against a very good team. If White Bear wins, Woodbury should get the 4 seed. And take it easy on Brown. I'm a Woodbury fan but even I realize the frustration he was feeling at the end of the game. He and his team had an excellent year and his HS hockey career just cam to an unpleasant, abrupt end.

I think maybe Erickson or Dittel but not sure.

I hope we play Hill in the first round if we don't get the #4 seed :D

Woodbury versus Rosemount

Post by Lakeviewing »

Great job for Woodbury 8-2. After watching a couple of games of Rosemount, most of their offense ran through JT, but you need more than one senior to step up and lead. Know doubt, JT can shoot, but 8 goals against, what happened to Morgan??. This was Rosemounts year to make it happen.

First I want to congratulate both teams. They both had phenominal seasons!

First point is goaltending. Wigen was obviously the better goalie tonight. We knew this was going to be a big key heading into the game. Wigen held his team in it in the first making a few tough saves. Morgan on the other hand gave up a soft first goal. After the first though Wigen had things pretty easy. I think he had four shots in the 2nd. Morgan made some terrific saves in the 2nd no question. He was the reason they were only down two after two. Wigen played very well in the third at the begining when his team needed him to and that gave momentum to the Royals who then went on a scoring rampage. Morgan had no defensive help tonight in the 2nd and 3rd periods while Wigen's defense played rock solid. Also the Royals had the puck most of the 2nd period so that helped as well.

2nd point is Brown and Eddy. Pretty sure Eddy won this one. He only had like 6 points on the night. Two goals and like four assists or something. Eddy is a team player. He looked slow in the first but then again everyone on the Woodbury team looked slow in the first. Brown got two terrific goals though. The first was the two on one. The second may have been the best shot I've seen all season. He absolutely plastered that shot white bar from the top of the circles. I don't think anyone in the state may have stopped that one. Eddy was all around terrific though. I don't even have the words to explain how good he is. He makes his team go. Eddy had a slow start to the game and so did his team. What happened in the 2nd and 3rd he started to get going as did his team. He took over this game in the 2nd and 3rd no question.

Coaching! I know people don't think about this very much but I think something happened that sparked the Royals. You don't just not have it one period and then all of the sudden come and play a completely different game the next period without something being said. Rosemounts coaching just seems weird. Do they have like 2 head coaches? They seem really young does anyone have any info on them? I think they let their guys feel too good after the first. Games aren't locked up after one. You can ask Cretin that last year when they had a 2-0 lead on the Royals after one. It is a three period game and even though the Royals didn't play all three periods either they won the last two. Rosemount looked gassed and stunned at what the Royals were doing to them in the 2nd.

Overall great game and congrats Rosemount on a great season! Congrats to the Royals for making their 2nd trip to state in a row. I think this team is better than last years so we will see what happens. I tell you what that first line for the Royals is one of the best in the state no question!

That is the first thing I thought of as soon as Woodbury scored the 3rd and 4th goal. Coincidentally they were both on the PP. On the 3rd, one of Rosemounts best penalty killers was in the box (mitch #7). very costly.... JT didn't help by taking the minus on their 4th goal. At that point I was thinking the Rosemount staff would take a TO to figure things out but they didn't.

3rd Period: Rosemount came out flying, but they really could NOT put the puck in the net for the life of them. I think they out shot the Royals 8-1 at the beginning. The bad part for Rosemount is that the Woodbury's first shot of the 3rd period went in the net. THAT was the bubble burster for the Irish. They were just completely out of it after that.

This game should NOT have been running time in my opinion. Hats off to Woodbury's coaching staff for getting them pumped up and ready to go in the 2nd period. Rosemount looked like they lost about 2 strides to their game. They absolutely dominated the 1st period.

I think this game came down to #1 being special teams (Woodbury like 2-4 or 3-4 on the PP) and coaching. Rosemount needed to just bury Woodbury in the 1st period, which they DIDN'T. They let the Royals hang in there, and that let them make a sweet come back. The other key was turn overs in their own zone. I would say 5 out of the Royals' 7 goals were from turn overs.

*additional notes*
the 8th goal was scored on the Rosemount's back up goalie along with 4th liners out there.

Good luck to the Royals in state. No offense, but I highly doubt they have a chance of winning their 1st round game.

Whoever asked what happened to Morgan, I think heybuddy sums it up pretty well. It's been the same story all year for Rosemount.

Also boblee, it's one thing for kids to come on here and ridicule another high school kid, but to see a grown man come on here and do it, that's pretty embarassing on your part.

Congrats to Woodbury!

Where was JT after the first period? Did he and Elvis leave the building? He was totally invisible after the first. Woodhood took control in the second and never looked back. Rosemount became frustrated and started taking really cheap shots, and that my friends, is NOT the mark of a truly great team. It is the mark of a team that has been overhyped and put on a platform they never belonged on. Don't ge me wrong. Rosie is a team with a lot of talent but their coaching staff has no idea of how to harness it and make it work for them. The last hit, from behind, on Walker Hyland, was another example of the lack of discipline and the prima donna attitude that has pretty much surrounded Rosie all year. Can YOU say running time??????????

As far as the conference that Eastview, Rosemount and Burnsville play in being the toughest, are there any of those teams going to the big show?

JT Brown was quoted a couple of times earlier in the year saying "the game was too easy," when they were beating teams with lesser ability. My question for him is, "how easy is it now". What a disgrace to the game, win or lose, play with class. The people saying that things happen in the heat of the moment are idiots, that's when true character comes out. I wish JT Brown the best of luck in the future but he has a long way to go to be a good player.
