Honestly, I'm more ecxited to see the Roseville White Bear game tonight as it is an evenly matched game between bitter rivals. I fully expect the Hill games to be a yawner, which is fine by me. I am bringing my son, so if we can avoid 3 OTs, I would appreciate it...

My stomach tightens up everytime I walk into the "Bat Cave" due to the history of Hill games played there.

Hypothetically...

MV - 54
HM - 3

Civello is playing left handed with a forward's stick and magazines taped to his shins just to have a little bit of a challenge anyway.

15:59 left in the 1st period.

Once again, Flip has been outstanding in goal! The on that got by him was a 6 on 0 break on a delayed penatly where all the Hill kids got caught behind the Mounds View goal checking out the cheer leaders. Mounds View pounded the 3rd rebound in...

Let's hope for HM's sake this game is running time come 3rd period. If they let the lesser talented teams skate with them for too long, anything can happen i.e. Tartan, SSP and even AHA this year.

I too was hoping for a Johnson HM section final. Memories of great city conference battles of the 80's. Now that that is not going to happen, I can't say who I'd rather see them play in the final (assuming a victory today). I think Roseville is more talented than WBL but WBL scares the heck out of me during sectionals. Is it indeed hard to beat a team 3 times in one season?

I wasn't impressed with Sievello at all, much less the Mounds View student section. I don't know how many times we had to sit through hearing "Let's go Mustangs". That's all they chanted, oh my god, where is the creativity. Were they trying to bore their hockey players? Or cheer for them? Maybe they expected them to read all the cute little signs they had up. Filled with hearts and messages about how hot certain players are. Haha, garbage. Oh, but when something remotely exciting happened for their team, they had their "Yeah that just happened!!!" sign up, awesome job guys. Good luck tonight though, you'll need it. I'm hoping for an upset in the Hill vs. MV game, which I don't think will hold to be true unfortunately.

I hate to give much credit to any Pioneer, but I have to agree with you there - those 6 on 0 breaks are tricky for a goaltender to stop, but the way he's playing, he definitely has a chance to keep them within 12 of the Mustangs.

Yea he only had around 30 saves and basically won the game for MV. You sure do know a lot about hockey. The Stillwater fan section was amazing too! I think I heard maybe 2 cheers from them. Must be a record or something. Plus I heard a "Go home White Bear" in there. How come you didn't listen?

It's also spelled Civello. C-I-V-E-L-L-O. I remember this one person kept making chants against White Bear that were pretty funny. And pretty true. Too bad he was alone in those cheers, they would have been amazing had that been the whole student section doing them. Go MV tonight!!!!!!!!!

I don't know, he was pretty deserving of Sieve-ello in his performance against White Bear. But hey, major credit due to your student section, I mean whoa, one fella chanting against White Bear? Man, that is outstanding. Not as outstanding as your adorable signs though ;) It was kinda funny to see so many kids turnout for that game at Aldrich when you have like, what, 10 students attend your home game against us? Quite the turnout. But, good luck tonight nonetheless.

I'm thinking the MV players will feel the 4.5 million Minnesotans behind them tonight. Go 'Stangs!

Tonight's post game thoughts:

Hill Murray 7, Mounds View 1: I was expecting running time the whole 3rd period. It did not happen until late but Hill still won easily as was expected.

White Bear Lake 4, Roseville 3: It lived up to the billing and it was an exciting game for the most part. It was interesting to see a penalty shot late in the game but the Roseville kid looked bad on the attempt. Roseville just can not get past White Bear Lake when it matters most.

Side note: Was anybody as disappointed as I was about so many empty seats tonight? I thought it be packed to the rafters tonight. Well I'm sure it will be on Friday.

Well, as expected, the 4AA semis tonight produced one very good game and one very bad game.
HM 7 Mounds View 1 This game was over in the first five minutes. fter nerly scoring a couple of times on their first shift, Hill scored on their next three shifts. Five minutes in, it was 3-0 and shots were 12-0. The one negative from Hill's perspective was that for most of the second period, they stood around and let Mounds View control play. Philippi made a couple of good saves, but if the Pioneers play like that on Friday, they'll lose badly.

White Bear 4 Roseville 3. Very entertaining game. White Bear showed a lot of heart coming bck frm three different one goal deficits to win the game. Major choke by Mueller on the penalty shot with 34.1 seconds left. He didn't even get a shot off.

As for the final, I'm leaning towards the Bears. I know Hill has already beten them twice, first in a game the Pioneers completely dominated and then in a game tha White Bear led 3-1 halfway through before losing 6-3. I just don't think Hill's defensemen are playing very well right now in their own end. Hill is scary good in the offensive end and just plain scary in their own end. If the Bears can avoid falling behind early, they can definitely pull the upset.

If White Bear stays out of the box and gets an early lead, I agree that they could pull off an upset. If Hill gets rolling, it may be a lot tougher.

I couldn't hate 2 teams like I hate Hill and White Bear, so I'm going to wait until either of them lose in the first game of state and laugh.

Might want to find some rivals you can actually beat. Park could use a new rivalry.

If memory serves me correctly, didn't Park beat White Bear Lake this year?
