The MN FLAMES AAA hockey organization annouces tryouts for the first time in their history. March 15-16, 2008, tryouts to be held in St. Cloud, MN at the MAC for birth years: '94 - '95 - '96 - '97 - '98.

The MN FLAMES, established 2002, are a central MN based AAA hockey organization. They typically service players in the surrounding central MN, St. Cloud region.

Where will the Flames teams be practicing?

Puck Hog,
What will the criteria be for the tryouts? Is there a percentage assigned to drills vs. scrimages? How many kids will be carried on each roster?
Will there be an Invitation and an Open team? Would kids on an open team be allowed to move up or challenge for the invitation teams?
How many coach's picks are being used at each level?
What is the philosophy of the organization, development or winning?

Most practices will be in St. Cloud at either the MAC or the National Hockey Center(St. Cloud State). Tryouts will consist of roughly 30% skills and the rest 4 on 4 and 5 on 5. The Flames organization stresses skills but wants to mix with a competitive team. There will be regularly scheduled skills sessions offered for players who make the teams and offered to some who don't make the team as well. Each coach sets their own program, tournaments and quanity of practices.
