Well maybe they should stop shooting there then. A previous poster who has fell off this board thought the way to beat him was shoot high...where are you goaler...I miss your analysis...it was usually pretty good.youngun88 wrote:About Bruggeman or however you spell his name i think he could fall under pressure. I'm not going to lie, it was somewhat homerish. But I do believe that they would be 1 if I lived anywhere else. I'm not a big statistics person, but I believe both of them are right there at the top in all of the categories.davey wrote:Freak would not have guessed you would pick AL's goalies..ha...ha. They both are solid. Who do you think gets the semi's if it is West and AL. Waalkens has played in the big game before, Distad not so. If you go by rotation, wouldn't West see Distad provided both teams advance, plus he has beat them once before.golfreak wrote:If you're talking goaltending, here's how I rank the top 5.
1. AL- Waalkens and Distad have been nothing but solid all year
2. Mankato West- Bruggeman has been solid, we'll see how he reacts in high pressure situations.
3. Rochester Lourdes- Scudamore has been good when he needs to be.
4 & 5. Not sure on the last two. Seems like Red Wing has had better GAA throughout the year so I'll give the slight nod to them
I couldn't tell ya about the rotation, but regardless, both goalies are tested and ready.
1. Ben Waalkens Albert Lea
2. Nathaniel Foot Red Wing
3. Nic Scudamore Rochester Lourdes
4. Peter Johnson Blake
5. Jake Vavricka Detroit Lakes
6. Mitch Smith Mahtomedi
7. Mark Smith Park Rapids
8. Dan Rothe South St. Paul
9. Derrick Ellingson Northfield
10. Brian Nelson Mound-Westonka
Others
Chris Hadland Fergus Falls
Alex Christianson East Grand Forks
Todd Sandstrom Hibbing/Chisholm
This is on the Minnesota Boys High School hockey link these are the top senior goaltenders in state. Bruggeman is 10 in junior.
Now this considers stats and skills alike. So by looking at this I would put AL at top for goaltending, with lourdes then west and red wing. However its a team sport so all factors are involved including a good defense.

Red Wing - 14
M. East - 0
stats when i can remember who the heck scored..
edit.
goals -
M. Giorgi - 3
R. Kesti - 2
G. Noesen - 2
B. Schammel - 1
L. Halvorson - 1
J. Mensing - 1
C. Wersal - 1
D. Roschen - 1
D. Bergeson - 1
"MR HOCKEY" H. Flack - 1
around 60 shots for Red Wing
6? for Mankato East.. didnt get their first one until 14 minutes into the game
Red Wing gets a "crowd misconduct" delay of game, bunch of people decided to throw pants shirts and shoes after the hat trick. Red Wing AD was DEFINITELY not happy about that, it was completely silent in the arena and you could hear all of the lovely words he was saying.

I swear albert lea is the only team that acts like they have scored before. when they play teams like east they can only have a 10 goal lead. I guess there coach wont let them have a bigger lead then that. I bet Red Wing had there 1st line out until about a minute left. What is the point of making teams look that bad
Red wing played their first line the 1st shift of the 3rd period after that they did not see the ice for the rest of third period so get your facts straightyoungun88 wrote:I swear albert lea is the only team that acts like they have scored before. when they play teams like east they can only have a 10 goal lead. Look at the stats on the Big 9 site, followthepuck or pointstreak. They do not mimic what you have above
Im just going by whats on the website. Opinions are opinions but hey i'll check it out. Plus this isn't just on stats its also on skill from what im reading. The team also has an affect on stats. I would still consider the list i found to be a tad bit more understanding and realistic.davey wrote:Fixxer.Fixxer wrote:1. Ben Waalkens Albert Lea

If you were at the game, you would have seen what happened. Coach Nemanich is a classy guy, so you could not be more wrong. They quit adjusting the scoreboard after it was 10-0. He told the guys to back down after the second period. The first line hardly had one shift during the whole third. Five of the goals were scored by kids I've never seen score in a single varsity game!youngun88 wrote: I bet Red Wing had there 1st line out until about a minute left. The other part being: Why would you quit playing hockey just because you know you have it in the bag? This is sections, buddy... you can't get any better practice time than with teams you know you can beat. Most of the third period was spent making nice defensive plays by letting the Cougars come at them with some three-on-two and three-on-one scenarios. It made it, in the least, more interesting to watch. A lot of good poke-checks and stick-handling going on along the half-wall and in the corners. Nathaniel Foot only saw 6 shots, and he should have seen more to keep him fresh for Thursday's game. All in all, I think it was a fantastic use of the time and resources on RW's part.
Player School...............................GP Minutes GA GAA Saves Save %
Tyler Bruggeman Mankato West..20 1025 36 1.79 479 0.930
Ben Waalkens Albert Lea...............12 625 23 1.88 258 0.918
Tyler Distad Albert Lea...................13 663 26 2.00 276 0.914
I'd be happy with any of the three with these stats. Bruggeman has the edge, but arguably played an easier schedule.

I have also seen with blowouts that sometimes bad habits can surface, coming back to bit you in the rump the next game. I wouldn't want to risk my top line or two of players getting injured if someone from the other team feels their team is getting it "rubbed in" and decides to take a run at someone. The other part being: Why would you quit playing hockey just because you know you have it in the bag? Why is this a joke? They were seeded last in the section and their record was horrible this year. I don't think they need you to point out that they need to improve their game for next year. I have to give East credit if they really faced close to 60 shots and only allowed 14, that was a good game for them this year.*MatthewFashion* wrote:RW 14 ME 0. This was a complete joke. RW scored 8 goals in the second and the top line didnt even see any ice in the third period.

Does anyone think that any of the favorites may be overlooking their opponents??
They shouldn't be, it's one and done now, and some teams have nothing to lose.

Are you looking for some place to sleep tonight, because it'll be awfully cold under a bridge. Maybe you're trying to score some crack...because your predictions indicate that you are on it.Where_is_the_bridge? wrote:This ain't no guess...this is what it gon be
Lourdes 7 Lacresent 1
New Prague 5 (EN) RW 3
West 8 Faribo 0
Albert Lea 4 Northfield 1
No way Lourdes blows out LC 7-1...it will be much closer.
RW beats NP by 1 or 2.
West kills Faribault, fo sho.
AL beats Northfield by 2 or 3.
