There were over 1200 kids that graduated from the class of 1972 in Edina. So for the class of 73 there were (i would assume) 600 kids per high school. That is still a big class even by todays standards.. So Edina had TWO chances at wining the state title per year. Im sure most of the best kids went to one or the other school but they still had two chances.. Also, I request if you get to claim 9 you must use an asterisk*

p.s. wikipedia says 9

Looks like they are adding some quality players, just a question for you do you think it hurts, or helps having the son on the team, think it is a distraction from bettering the team, I mean maybe there is some other kids that could be more effective.

I guess I don't quite understand it. What is the hurry to get to college? With the average age of college freshmen getting older due to junior play, why make that step at an even younger age? I know he is the next Housley, but I don't think I would let my kid out of the house until he graduated as an honest senior, was at least 18 or until he had two kids of his own.

Very true... Maybe he is planning on bailing out of college early too, just like all the talented gophers did this year

Based on birthdate, isn't he old enough to graduate "on time". I concur with your logic, however. His choice.

Dave Stead

BIAFP wrote:Just got off the phone with my good friend Dave Stead at the MSHSL and he said they recognize "member schools" in their records and since Edina High School, Edina West High School, and Edina East High School were all separate and distinct member schools nothing will change. Time to move on
Exactly. MSHSL has a constituency of "member schools" and they operate for them.

Seems everyone has moved on at the state HS league in about 1982, as has everyone in Edina. So yes, there's no better time to 'move on' (whatever you mean by that) than now. Kind of like tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life and a stitch in time saves nine.

Edina's got nine titles and if they play well it could be ten before the end of the decade. One oddity in MSHSL recordkeeping is that they consider pre-split Edina to be the same school as post-merger Edina. Hmmmm. I wonder if schools are recognized by tax-exempt number or something? Those schools have a lot less in common than pre-split Edina (f/k/a Edina-Morningside) and Edina East.

Another post said Edina graduated nearly TWELVE HUNDRED kids in the early 70s. Yikes! I'm surprised they aren't still reading off names at commencement.
Be kind. Rewind.
