Anoka loses to Osseo

Post by Penalty Shot »

I read on Prep spots that Anoka lost tonite to Osseo 3-0. Should cloud any hope of Anoka staking a claim for the Section7AA #1 seed. East has won 12 of their last 13 with their only loss to Edina 3-1. They beat Hastings 5-1 tonite and shold have locked up the top spot with a strong regular season finish. Anoka has a slightly better section record than East but East beat them head to head 4-0, and there strength of schedule is rated higher than Anoka.

If that is true Anoka lost 3-0 to Osseo, then yes they should be 2, East 1. Any other scenario now is a horrific travesty.

Section 7AA sedings

Post by hockey59 »

Anoka has an 18-6 record with 1 game to play (5-1 in 7AA games) - and will finish the regular season with a (better over-all record) than DE. Edge Anoka

DE is 17-7-1 (the tie was actually a shoot-out loss to Centennial) and are ( 4-2 in 7AA games). Edge Anoka

(East beat Anoka) in December 4-0. Edge DE

East (plays a tougher schedule than Anoka)...but if Anoka would have got in a better Holiday tourney than the SSP (Non-Premier)...(but I digress) they're schedules would be pretty close. Edge DE

My point is that although I believe DE will get the #1 seed, Anoka still has an argument for it...but in any event...everybody still needs to win 3 to advance to Excel.

That's brilliant! Your vast knowledge of the game shows up once again. Anoka's schedule was nothing like the difficult one the Hounds play and by the way, visit the Roseau at I. Falls thread (page 6) and read some of the takes on Youso.

First, you can't go by overall record. Based on that, would you say that Park Rapids would be seeded ahead of East and Anoka? Of course not. East had a tougher schedule based on PS2. Not a huge difference, but still a difference.

East won their head-to-head meeting. East has a better record when considering common opponents. The only edge Anoka has is in overall section W/L record. But again, that can be deceiving because teams in 7AA don't play the same section opponents. East didn't play Andover, Anoka didn't play Cloquet or Forest Lake.

East gets the #1 seed. Otherwise, they'll have a bigger beef than Rapids fans have ever had. Image

I agree. East deserves #1 this season. Should be no need for Mr. Randolph to stomp his feet this year.

Going crazy...no...disappointed...yes...But you have to give credit to Osseo...they played really well...Anoka missed some good chances...thats the way it goes...we play in a tough conference...but a win on Thursday still gives Anoka at least a share of the NWSC title. The fact is Anoka has dealt with a lot of injury issues this year and is still 18-6.

Actually...this was one of your better posts :o :o :o I actually snickered when I read it

I'm curious, how did they do in that "Non-Premier" tournament?
