Having your kid miss a day of school means you need to have reality check?

How many kids have missed a day to go to an out of town tournament?
Yes.....My kids have missed days for tournaments. Again , what the H--- are you talking about?

About 10,000 of them in the first week of March in Downtown
St Paul. It is called the State Tournament I suppose that doesn't meet
the standard of out of town but ask any kid and he will tell you where
he want's to go. You work hard do extra classwork turn in extra assignments above and beyond what the others are required to do.
Have lots of extra credit points and be able to enjoy the games. It is
called the course of society where you learn how to act and control your
actions amongst other human beings in a public forum. I say it is all good
as long as you do the required work and a little extra. After all it is only
for a day or two. We all hope to live a long life and the couple of days
each year will not prevent you from achieving your academic goals as long as you prepare yourself for the future and what you want it to hold
for you in the terms of a good education. These wer'e some of the best
days of my life and I am going. I am not sorry for you and your child to miss out as that is your choice but remember when it is all over and you
kept your child from this great experience it looks as though you wer'e
the one sniffing the elmers glue.

It so fun conversing with someone that doesn't have a clue to what he is talking about. For your information the 96 Machine played in I'm not sure what 95 tournament, might of been the International Cup but 96 Machine did not lose a game in winning the 95 Tournament beating the 95 Predators in the championship game. Care to revise your prediction.

More Cow Bell. Sorry but you got it wrong. The 96 machine did not go undefeated in that tourney but lost to the Predators earlier in the tournament and came back and won in the champ game. Don' know offhand if they lost to anyone else. Top teams were not in that tournament

no one knows if the Fire is loaded with 96 machine kids, because there is change over the winter, but the Fire roster on their website does have a lot of kids who played with the 96 Deuce last season, not a lot of Machine kids at the 96 level.

I think Pens4's point is that if you are going to spend money on a spring tournament, certainly the Chi-Town shuffle is loaded with talent. Besides that you can get a bloody mary rinkside at 7am!!! can't do that at Selects or Super Series

The best "all star" weekend tourney we have participated in was Bernie's Summit Series. Great competition.

Personally, my 96 played tougher hockey at PeeWee A this year. He grew mentally tougher playing against 94s all winter, and now when he goes back to AAA summer program he'll be one of the oldest kids on the ice and he can work on his creativity. The best of both worlds.

Never even heard of Bernie's Summit Series. In my opinion Super Series is the best but they're all just money makers and pay to play tournaments. Most of the better players do participate in them though. The strongest off season tournaments are in Canada, Chicago and Boston. That's where you see what other states/countries are really turning out and the tiny Machine players would get a better perspective of their long term options. I've heard that playing against the big boys in Canada makes the Meltdown look like a joke.

Not all Canadian tournaments are created equal. Pick a light tournament and bring home a statue to put in your nice MM trophy case. Not sure it's worth the airfare though. Sorry Bernie, not a believer.

Lovedog get a clue like I said you do Not know what you are talking about. The trophy STAY'S with the TOURNAMENT it will never make
it to the Minnesota Made Tophy case , it is all Full anyway. Nice try but as
usual you lose. If it was about the statue I wouldn't have gone to this
tournament as I know you do not bring the statue from this tournament
home with you. I guess this shows that the statue is really meaningless
to me it is the competition that I am after ay or is it Ya ? Lovedog you pretend to know what you are talking about only problem is you don't have a clue as to what it is you are talking about.. :^o

lovedog, im not sure which part of canada your talking about but as far as winnipeg which is a large city for western canada the top tournaments their are not as good as the melt down invite. the canadien teams that came to the invite last year in the 95 division finished last or next to last. thats if my memory serves me right. i think the machine could handle themselves very well at any tournament except maybe the prospects in toronto.

Good points watchdog. Again, not all Canadian tournaments are created equal - just like tournaments in the States. The Prospects is the top Candian tournament along with the Brick in Edmondton for 10 yr. olds. That's why only the top US players are invited to compete there. The N/S/E/W tournies are fun, but not always that competitive, especially if they can't draw the great northern MN players.
