Hockey Games - Players/Parents
Whats the craziest story you know of regarding hockey players or parents and situations happening - either on the ice or off the ice?

At the GRG-Armstrong game this year and Armstrong girls dove into the GRG bench and started throwing punches at everything she saw. She must have taken exception to something that was said when she skated by. She only got two minutes, but when she went to the sin bin she fired her helmet at the glass before she got in. Then she got a little emotional. Don't even remember who it was anymore, but it was something I had never seen before. Very entertaining.hockeytime40 wrote:Whats the craziest story you know of regarding hockey players or parents and situations happening - either on the ice or off the ice?

Earlier this season I actualy witnessed something I've never seen before in a hockey game, at any level. A player - and I won't name names here - punched one of her own teammates in the facemask after that teammate tried to calm her down after a tussle with an opposing player.
And just when you thought you've seen everything....

Last night at the Alexandria - Detroit Lakes game the puck was lost somewhere in the Detroit Lakes goalie after a point blank shot. The game was delayed for five minutes while she was taking off her pads looking for it. Her teammates assisted by lifting up her jersey and peaking in her breezers as the crowd roared with laughter. Never did find it... they had to start the game with a new puck.

First, I may have the details a little off, but the basic story is as follows: Hastings was playing Stillwater. Erika McKenzie was essentially Hastings' whole team. The Hastings coach was repeatedly warned by Bill Rhody (referee) to stop delaying the faceoffs. This tactic by the Hastings coach was done to give Mc more rest time. Apparently, Mr.Rhody had enough and on one key face-off in the Hastings end, he dropped the puck when there were five Stillwater players and only the Hastings goalie in the Hastings zone. A goal was scored by Stillwater, that proved to be the winner.
Come-On!!! It had to be somewhere. It just didn't disappear?pondhockey wrote:Last night at the Alexandria - Detroit Lakes game the puck was lost somewhere in the Detroit Lakes goalie after a point blank shot. Just curious does anyone know what team that was?MNHockeyFan wrote:Earlier this season I actualy witnessed something I've never seen before in a hockey game, at any level. Once I witnessed a game that was very lopsided. The dominating team's coach decided to slow things down by switching around his players (i.e. he put forwards at D and D at the forward positions). One of the D players who was now playing forward had never played forward in her life so she was obviously very confused. At one point she picked up a loose puck in the slot and fired a rocket at the goalie. Unfortunately it was her own goalie but fortunately the goalie blocked the shot (much to everyone's surprise).

A few years ago I attended a U12B game playoff game between two teams. A rather round father of one of the teams decided he was going to help out his team by distracting the other goalie. He stood by the glass behind the goalie and shouted inappropriate things at her. A pregnant mom saw what was going on. She headed for the offending dad and proceeded to confront him saying, "why don't you pick on someone your own size" while pointing at her swollen belly. He wisely stopped his abuse.
