Since February 1st, the Section 8A torch has been enroute from EGF to the site of the 2008 tournament. It will criss-cross its way through northwest Minnesota on a 19 day, 11 city tour that will end when the torch will light the 8A cauldron outside The Ralph in beautiful Thief River Falls, MN.

The games we follow are just games within a bigger game so it is fitting the discussion around these games are game to be a bigger game than the actual game within the game.

Last nights Crook-town vs EGF match up wasn't very pretty for either team! To Crox defense they just don't have the skill to compete at a high level each and every night. EGF has the fire power to score some goals but if they want to go deep into the playoffs they will need there goalie to play much better than he did last night. Also they will need to find a way to stay out of the box. I truly believe that if they can get those two things under control we could see this team in St. Paul. Warroad is still my favorite to win this section but I would be afraid of EGF if they could meet in the finals. Park chances of winning this section is still at %0.00. They don' stand a fighting chance.

Pr has the second best chance to come out of this section..i would bet anything that if you ask TRf, EGF, and bemidji if they think PR has a chance they would tell you yes. Pr is still probably the underdog out of PR, TRF, EGf, and Warroad, but if they play well, they'll give anyone a run.

Sinbomb- Park will lose in the Semi-finals so then there chance of winning the championship is %0.00. I have seen Park play 4 times this year and I have seen Warroad TRF and EGF play about 6-7 times each and Park just doesn't have the depth, Goaltending or experiece to win a section 8a title. Warroad or EGF will have no problem disposing of Park when the real games begin in two weeks.

Defense was the one place they were very green coming into the year. The four D they've been using a lot consist of two guys that were bantams last year, a kid who they'd really rather play at forward, and one senior with experience. Well they moved up the one kid to play forward and his line responded with all five goals, I doubt he'll go back to the blueline. Right now Crookston has 2 lines that can do something offensively, a goalie who could win a game by himself, and YES, a defensive corp that needs to tighten up fast.

Staying out of the box can be correctable, you can't make a guy stronger or faster in two weeks but you can make him more disciplined. Of all things that need fixing, they have the easiest task.
