JGB rankings for 1/31/2008

This is just predicting the top five for the new rankings on thursday, who will be in and what order.

I think Lakeville has proven themselves to gain their spot as number 1 again, but it seems RAVE will stay there until they lose. Heres my top five.

1/2 RAVE or Lakeville, its close.
3. Roseville for sure.
4. Edina
5. WBL black

I have no idea for the last 5 they always seem to be changing, so this is a guess.
6. Hudson
7. WBL orange
8. Wessy's boys.
9. Burnsville
10. ? no clue

I haven't seem all the teams play but based on the few games I saw at WBL I think you have the teams ranked in a logical order.

I did some checking on team websites and based on who teams played and who they beat and lost this looks good especially for the top four.

I'd throw WBL Black, Hudson and WBL Orange into a second group and probably Wessys. WBL Black beat Hudson on Saturday and beat Wessys. Hudson has beat WBL Orange, Wessys and according to the Hudson site lost 4-3 to Lakeville in the first league game of the season. WBL Orange beat WBL Black, but lost to Wessys and Hudson.

Its cool that all of these teams seem to play each other fairly even so you know it will always be a good game.

Waiting for someone to pull the "WHy are we talking about Hudson they are in Wisconsin" line. Again their site shows most of their games are in Minnesota and they've crushed the Wisconsin teams they've played.

And in spite of what some of the posts are saying the Junior Gold B games Ive seen have been entertaining - with the exception of a few "goon" teams and games

If I had unlimited time, I'd love to do some kind of strength of schedule ranking like they do with the varsity teams. These LPH rankings go back and forth so much and dont seem to follow logic based on who teams have beat and who they lose to. Kinda like the BSC standings for football.

Just curious if anyone else was surprised by the rankings?

Top 6 are pretty solid. Hudson could definitely make a case for being there. Woodbury-White and Osseo just loss within the last day or two so they could slip back out. Burnsville is coming off consecutive losses (RAVE & Buffalo) so still suprised to see them up there. Then you have (IMO) 6 bubble teams: Inver Grove, Wessy's, Buffalo, Wayzata, Minnetonka, and Elk River. SSP just beat Woodbury-White last night so I suppose you could throw them back into the mix. Shaping up to be a good last month of the regular season.

I think one of the main reasons IGH remains in the top rankings is because they are the defending champions so they naturaly get a little more attention.

omg just got beat by elk river and lost 2 games and i heard they lost a game to delano, but apparentley it didnt count or something.

igh should not be up there

Ya i think hudson could be up there. Maybe not if the ranker decided they shouldnt be ranked in state since they cant even compete at state or something.

I'm suprised Woodburry is in there. It's hard to get the last 5 accurate i bet though. It must be a tough job being a ranker for a level like this.

No we actually beat Delano 2-0 nothing but we did lose to Elk River and lost to Rave last night

i really dont think wessy's should be talking...
u guys lost to buffalo and burnsville who igh beat both of them also we lost to the RAVE 3-2 in a great game... and you guys beat a garbage centennial team by one goal the only decent team on there u guys even beat was WBL i think you guys are the most overated team in the state u guys are talking about how good you are but u went to the toilet bowl in the white bear tournament u guys wonder why u arent in the top ten...yah u guys really are showing every one up i dont think u guys are even decent if u wanna know the truth... you guys keep beating up on teams like NSP and blaine who shouldnt even be playing at this level and we beat that centennial team by 5 goals in a tournament... i dont know if im missing something but once u guys start beating teams in the top ten come talk to me instead of talking yourselves up... By the way lakeville would kick the PLEASE BAN ME out of you guys... and then u guys ended up losing to woodbury which one? cuz blue is not a team someone who is even decent should lose to... white i could understand but seriously start puttin up some big W's then start talking!

first off im amazed that u took the time to stalk us down and find all of our losses and stats. and the games u mentioned about burn and buf we all lost by one goal when we had 4-1 4-2 leads. yes we did go to the toilet bowl at white bear. but i guess playing #4 ranked roseville 1st round has nothing to do with it, when it was 3-3 in the last 5 minutes and they pulled away, and then we lost to woodbury white by 1 goal 7-8 which shows that we werent lacking goals our goalie had an off night. weve gotten 3rd place in 2 other tournements and we have beaten both wbl (who are mranked 5 and 6) lakes which good luck if u play them.

and aside from defending myself now with some stats ive never talked us up saying we should be ranked. we lost 2 games to 2 teams ranked higher then u and so yeah that makes sense that we would lose our ranking, thats a good call. and were did lakeville come from? i never mentioned them at all, theyre good as hell, but i didnt say anything about beating them, i wanna play them because theyre good and it would be challenging. so if you even make it to state maybe we'll see u there

woodbury white dominated wessy, it was 7-2 going into the third, and woodbury just started playing laid back, then it ended up being an 8-6 final. I saw the sickest goal in this game too.

maybe u guys should learn how to close out games then and we have taken 1st in a tourney 2nd in two and consolation in one because we played like PLEASE BAN ME vs Edina

Stop saying all this over an internet forum and prove things on the ice. Complaining about how a team is ranked at a certain spot over the internet isn't gonna do anything. And stop giving stupid excuses, you make yourself look stupid. Saying things like "oh well it was a close game and we were winning 4-2 at one time, but we got a stupid penalty blah blah blah." What is that gonna do? You still lost. This is why I find all this new technology so funny...

For one, some people have to grow up and learn how to accept someone elses opinion. Two, people come on here and brag about teams and say others suck, blah blah blah. All that does is give a bad name for the association and makes your team and yourself individually look classless and disrespectful.

Then you people wonder why others rip on the Junior Gold forum for being just like what people say the league is like, full of hacks and classless players who don't show much respect for the game of hockey? HA.

So I just want to be clear on this chillout.... talking and trash-talking doesn't go on within the high school forums or even college forums and occurs only within the Junior Gold forum??? Is that what you are saying? It must be nice sitting up there on your perch looking down on all of us classless people who don't respect hockey.

I did not mean that at all. I never said EVERYONE on the JG forum was like that. Just some. Of course trash-talking is gonna go on because, well, it just will. I was saying that if some people are gonna wonder why they give the JG forum that sort of rep, then that's just funny considering what some of them post (which can be just absurd and disrespectful). But in no way am I just against this forum. I was just saying.

On another note, and this is just my opinion, but I really hate it when people who play JG come on here and then act as if we should respect this forum the same as the high school one and all they do is post about JG and how its not that bad blah blah blah. Well ok, it might not be as bad as it sounds, but the high school forum really is more important and is going to be more respected. Why? why do you have to come on here and rip on jr gold. If you play varsity, then stay the hell out of this forum. Do you think you're tight ripping on jr gold kids. Alls is does is make you look like the kid that doesnt get ice time on varsity, so you have to rip on jr gold to make you feel good. What do you want, kids that get cut to give up playing hockey. If you give up hockey because you dont make varsity, then you dont love the game, you just love the glory. And that makes YOU shallow.

I can respect your opinion as you are entitled to it. And its true that a jr gold state tourney will never draw 18,000 people to its games but the bottom line is that Jr. Gold leaves that opportunity for kids to play hockey. I agree with you that when players make ridiculous posts on here pertaining to themseleves and their teams it makes me scratch my head sometimes. But I can only hope that these same players learn a lesson about humility when they don't back their talk on the ice. You are right about varsity hockey being more respected and reputable, but don't knock JG about being not as important. I can guarantee that the majority of JG players view this level as important to them, as varsity players would view the importance of their level.

This forum is for JG players/coaches/fans to talk about JG hockey just as the HS forum is there for HS players/coaches/fans to talk.
