7AA, how would you seed them now?

The best seed Rapids can expect is #4. Rapids does not have a quality win and lost to Forest Lake. Even Rapids win against Cloquet is not that impressive given how badly Cloquet has fared recently (crushed by Blaine and Edina). Forest Lake will have a legitimate gripe if Rapids is seeded above them.

You can talk all you want about close losses to good teams, but that just proves that Rapids cannot win against a good team. You can rationalize all you want about what "could have", "would have", and "should have" happened, but the facts are clear: Rapids has no quality wins and they lost to Forest Lake. Also, Rapids has two very dangerous games against the Falls and Denfeld, another loss to a Class A team will be even more of an argument that Forest Lake should be seeded above them.

Yeah, it probably didn't make the Anchorage papers. Well my stuttering Rapids fiend, have no fear, when the coaches look at the PS2 ratings (and we know they do) they will see Rapids 25 spots higher than FLake. Even "southern" voting won't put Flake above Rapids unless that gap closes.

I have to disagree with that. Despite the closer 3-2 final, Rapids was dominated at times when they played Edina. East played Edina very even, but just didn't bury the biscuit.

I'm in complete agreement on that. East outshot and could have easily beaten Edina...they had plenty of opportunities, and it was a very even game and probably the best HS game I have ever seen in terms of overall quality of play. Don't let one late goal skew your opinion of that game. Both gave Edina very good fights, though.

Rapids, CEC, Elks, and Forest Lake

These 4 are gonna have to take what they get.
I wouldn't be surprised to see 1 of them in the final.
Which one is anyones guess right now.

Because if Cloquet, with all of their inconsistency, beats the existing #1 seed Duluth East twice how do you not seed them at least #2?

I think in that case you would have the top 4 seeds being:
1. Anoka
2. Cloquet
3. Duluth East
4. Grand Rapids

The month of February should be very interesting to say the least. A lot of people view Section 7AA as being down this year. To the contrary I think the section is deeper from top to bottom than it is in most years. It's usually pretty top heavy, but this year you can't take any team for granted. Many of the quarterfinal matchups will be intriguing this year. Seven out of eight teams will have to defeat three formidable opponents to make it to state. That's unheard of. Usually the top seeds are shoe-ins for the semifinals. Not this year.

One thing's for sure – whoever represents section 7AA at state this year will have ran the gauntlet – and definitely earned it.
