State Tournament qualifying format
Does Anyone see a problem with the format for the current state tournament qualification? Teams from the metro area are playing other metro teams in regions and aren't making the state tournament, while teams from the northern part of the state that got creamed by the metro team are making it because they have an easy region, and then they end up ranked highter than the metro team. I can't really come up with a solution to this problem, Does Anyone have an idea?

You are wrong with your thoughts. The north has many tough teams, as well as some slouches. The metro has many tough teams, and even more slouches. You need to think about how many more teams there are in the metro.slapshot44 wrote:Does Anyone see a problem with the format for the current state tournament qualification? Duluth East
Grand Rapids
Moorhead
Roseau
Bemidji
can all hold their own against any metro team.
slapshot44- you must be a true citiot with your old and unwise statement.
lets just look at eden prairies trip to the north country this weekend. 4th ranked team in state 6 loses all year. they come up here on a 5 game sweep and go home with 3 loses a tie and one win. the win was 4-3 in a game i personally watched and it could have gone either way. i really dont think the north is gona have any problem sending quality teams to state. the only problem we do have is maybe the current system they use for the playoffs tha allow teams like little falls to make it last year when they were not in the top 2or 3 in the region.

The way is set up now is a better set up then it was before. Last year, D12,15,16 all in the same region. That means everything north of St. Cloud was represented with only 2 teams in the state tournament. Look at a map, that is over half the state.
If the cities teams are really better then the current set up is in their favor. D5 can send two teams, D10 can send two teams, D6 can send two teams, D2 can send two teams. That would be 8 cities teams in the state tournament. I am willing to bet that isn't the way it works out though.
