Post by doubleAAguru »

I know that Nick Larsen was involved in the preview for the the 2008 NHL draft.Yet I know that he is not yet commited. He is playing in the USHL and thats about all I now. What do you think about him?

Do you mean the Nick Larson who played for St. Thomas last year and is now at Waterloo? He must be doing great because he was selected for the USHL All Star team which will be playing later this month in Green Bay.

The last time I saw his dad he said that Nick has not yet committed to a college. While he was still at St. Thomas I believe he had a full scholarship option from Boston U.

Apparently quite a few. And they all seem to be pretty good at hockey....maybe that's all it takes.

There's Nick Larson from Apple Valley (Eastview) who would have been a senior at St. Thomas Academy this year.

&

There's Nick Larson from Stillwater who graduated from Hill-Murray last year and is sitting out at least a year of hockey while attending classes at the University of Minnesota.

You mean would be a senior at Eastview High School...

Quick, small but has good hands and moves the puck well. Decent shot and probably will end up playing somewhere but not sure exactly where. I assume most scouts like his hands but his size is going to hurt him a little. It took Barribal a break to get to the gophs and he was a stand out in HS, Nick was good in HS but not much of a comparison to Jay. I would bet Northern Michigan or some school in the CCHA or smaller schools might pick him up.

Nope. We mean he would be a senior at St. Thomas Academy since that is where he was going to school.

How will his size hurt him? He is listed at 6-2.

I am assuming they entered that in wrong. Saw him 2 months ago and was only 2 inches taller than I am (5'8") and was not real thick. Of course he was wearing long sleeves so couldn't see the muscle I assume is there. Not sure who measured that or if they were allowed to enter it themselves but yea, not 6'2" as of late October.

Still would bet he goes D1 to a CCHA school or smaller school. As for your St Thomas quote, he was stolen... :D

NHL Central Scouting does official height/weight measurements and Larson came out at a little over 6'1 and 182 lbs. I would gather he was measured some time last summer/fall.

It's kind of suprising that he hasn't committed yet. He is still a very talented player, and I know at one point BU, UM, and CC were talking to him.
