EA GameShow

Post by Govs93 »

Anybody checked out EA Gameshow? It's fabulous.

It's an online, real time sports trivia game, played similar to NTN I guess. It's unique though, because it's "hosted" by a couple of radio DJs (I only recognize one of them from Sirius, but supposedly they have real jobs), and a staff of writers for their questions so they're always new. Because it's live, it doesn't run 24 hours a day - it's only available at night from 4:00pm-2:00AM

Anyway, I realize I'm sounding like a pitchman, but I promise you I make nothing from this - I'd just be curious to see if you guys are really as smart as you all seem to think you are!

If anybody steps in to try, I'm usually in the "Minnesota" room, and my screenname there is "Natron44".

Yeah, I had a big night last night. I can usually handout a few beatings on nights where they don't have alot of basketball questions, and that was the case. Basketball kills me though.

Sorry Govs sounds fun, but it appears you need a Jaguar to run it...and I'm only running an Oldsmobile.

Sorry buddy. I don't know that you necessarily need a Jag, but probably a nice little rice burner.

Looks like theoneandonly made it though.
Let me know if you want some pointers, I think I can help you bump up that scoring.

Yeah, for a while I couldn't figure out how you were scoring so high, then I realized there were powerups so I think I got it down now.

Nice. Your best bet is to get only "6x chickens", use them only when you KNOW the answer, and wait until the clock is as low as you can let it go to answer. If you use all 4 correctly, it should push you up over 20,000 in each game.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try it once I can save up a couple tokens.

Seriously?! They were playing Dateline NBC "To Catch a Predator" soundbites of Chris Hanson that were more offensive than your screenname the other day!

Thanks, that was probably my best night so far. I'm starting to get the hang of the powerups which make it more fun.

Abosolutely... you have to get over that initial shock of the early beatings (which I also took), but once you can pile up enough tokens to buy-in and play for real, it changes the game.

Right now it's still technically a "beta", so they've only launched a Windows version to this point. They keep dropping hints that a download on Xbox 360 and/or PS3 is immenent though.

I'll ask and see what the plans are for Mac.

What you probably want to do is buy only 6x chickens, because they're the most valuable powerups (there's a 10x guess, but you're really not in control of that one, so most of us don't bother with it) - chicken meaning you're playing "chicken" with the clock, 6x meaning you earn 6 times the points (duh).

You can use 4 per game, and to activate them you use the W,E,S, & D keys. If you know the answer, hit one of those keys, then let the clock run down as far as you can to answer the question. The longer you wait, the more points you get, but obviously if you wait too long, the clock runs out and you get nothing.
