Can anyone confirm that the New Prague coach made a kid play the entire 2nd and 3rd period of the Red Wing last night with only one break as a form of Punishment.

I think that is great if he did it. Although as a coach you probably shouldn't do that if you want to stick around very long...NoExcuses wrote:Can anyone confirm that the New Prague coach made a kid play the entire 2nd and 3rd period of the Red Wing last night with only one break as a form of Punishment.
This guy has been a problem everywhere he has coached. I still can't believe they hired him in the first place.

I was at the game and yes, Lapic played the entire 2nd period, and all but about 1:15 of the 3rd period, all at defense, instead of his normal forward position. It appeared to be in response to Lapic's staying on the ice too long during a 1st-period shift, but that's just speculation.
In talking with several NP parents, it appears there are a number of problems here, including the usual hockey litany of players who think they're better than they are, parents who think little Johnny is headed for the NHL and should play more than anyone else and not much communication between parents and the coaching staff.
It's unfortunate. NP graduated a really classy bunch of hard-working kids over the past two years - remember how they took Holy Angels to overtime in Richfield last year? - and now this next generation of players appears to be a dysfunctional group.

funny how these two groups seem to run hand in handgoalieguy1 wrote:problems here, including the usual hockey litany of players who think they're better than they are, parents who think little Johnny is headed for the NHL and should play more than anyone else and not much communication between parents and the coaching staff.

I talked to one of the members of a family who had 3 kids play at New Prague (2 of whom are now in D1) who was telling me that the Prinicipal at NP is buddies with Barger, so when Ward split, Barger was the first one called, despite the fact he was unceremoniously dismissed Burnsville. Everything I've heard indicates that nobody is thrilled with that decision.
