haha, Rosemount is not capable of beating Roseau. Roseau is a perfect match for demantling Rosemount. The Irish are a good team because they have excellent veteran leadership. This is a perfect recipe for beating teams like Jefferson (who they recently crushed 4-1). The problem is Roseau has BETTER veteran leadership than Rosemount and plays with significantly more depth.
If this game were to happen (which Rosemount will never reach state), I would predict a 5-2 for Roseau. Ness would DESTROY the BPP line.
I'd say it would be a pretty good game that could go either way. last year rosemount went up to roseau with a less talented team, and had a 3-2 lead with 8 minutes remaining in the game. As we all know, a city team can't win way up in the north land. And also remember, roseau refused to come down to the cities to play against them this year. Anything can happen in sections, let's just be hopeful that both these teams can come out of their sections, so we can potentially see a battle of the roses.
As far as the remainder of roseau's schedule, no one can bet them. Any team in the Top 10 could give them a run for their money, except for maybe Hopkins, unless Fons played unreal
Roseau is a top 5 team. They are not a Power House! They are a very good team with the experience of what it takes to win it all.
I personally don't think they have played their A game for an entire 3 periods. That's O.K. Should they be ranked #1?? I guess based on their record and respect for the defending champs, but this group does not seem to be taking things for granted.
If any lesson was learned from last years Moorhead team, (which I think was an outstanding team), come tournament time, there is not any easy game.
A loss now can be absorbed. A loss in the playoffs would be disheartening!

Why will Rosemount not make it to state... they have to go through CDH (who is a weak squad this year) there only real challenges are Woodbury and Eastview and they already beat both teams...

just ignore whatever my friend says. He obviously doesn't know what he is talking about. Just because you beat a team throughout the regular season, does not mean you will beat them in sections. Eastview and Woodbury pose a deep threat for rosemount and vice versa

I think you need to distinguish between what is confidence and what is the lowering of inhibitions. Confidence is belief in one's powers or abilities. The consumption of alcoholic beverages doesn't lead to greater confidence, but rather to the lowering of restraint and inhibitions. In other words, people drink a little to take the edge off before they do something they are nervous about like asking out a girl. They're not anymore confident that they'll have success, but at least now they're not as worried about getting shot down. True confidence comes through preparation, practice and the memory of past success. I believe that Moorhead was probably a better team than Roseau last year, but Roseau had the psychological advantage of the memory of the previous year's success over them. A wiser man than me put it like this "Experience tells you what to do; confidence allows you to do it."

I agree take note:
* Moorhead 2007
* AHA 2007 & 2006
* Roseau 1989 vs Warroad Region 8
* Russia vs. US 1980
* etc.
The only team that can beat the Rams is themselves. If they come in to a game flat or their heads inflate and forget they have to play any game then they can and will be deflated so to speak.
Dont want to see it happen mind you but just saying I would love to see a Edina vs Rams matchup in the finals come State Tourney Time.
If anyone can beat them I would go with the Hornets. But then I would have to put up with all that razzing in the locker room over at Braemer come old man's hockey. Don't want that to happen boys. I like my braggin rights down here!

haha, irishfan08, I am just giving you a hard time. I think that Rosemount does have a chance to go to state, and I think only Eastview is going to maybe put a clog in their chances (Woodbury is just not ready for a team like Rosemount and CDH is down). To repeat, and return to the title of the thread. Will Rosemount beat Roseau? No.

Rams vs Edina in the state finals would be a dream matchup of a northern power vs a metro power. I'd love to see it, especially with Roseau coming out on top!

Wow. I know what you meant, I was seeing if would catch something, you are right on the money with the confidence thing. That is why Roseau has been succsesful with some of there games having confidence in them selves, oh and the fact of the endless hours of north rink hockey, and I believe this is what the southern teams do not understand the hours and hours that is logged on the north rink, people have to understand that this is where the succsess comes from, playing in the Schwans Cup yes maybe there would be some good competition, but money distance and time is the factor, they could go down and play three games three periods of hockey and log about a total of 20 minutes on the ice but they can do that here also and then log about two more days of FREE open hockey so with the money involved I see why Rams don't go to the xcel, and for the southern teams if you want to play the Rams come up north and play them we have a tourney and a three rinks we'll fit you in somewhere.

Us hockey players never where known for our smarts!
To bring us back on point here, I wanted to say the Warriors, from Brainard not Roarroad, but after the a$$kicking they were handed last night i will not say it. I don't think they will lose until MAYBE tourny-time in March.
I'm not sure where to post this. It would fit in most threads. In Wisconsin we are not allowed to give private monetary help to public school programs. God forbid if any student would have an unfair advantage. If this is not the case in Minnesota we should get a slush fund started to help some of these schools travel. I have heard that Roseau's travel budget is about 5% of Moorhead's. This may be just rumor. But Roseau does a tremendous amount of traveling just to play the team's they have always played in their neck of the woods. I'll put up the first grand and for those who are complaining about Roseau's schedule, ante up. We'll get this problem fixed. Also, how about a motor coach for the boys in March. That school bus has to be uncomfortable.
cesar_maniago wrote:It's tough to be the same team 3 times in one season. Just ask Moorhead last year, and Roseau might find that out this year against Moorhead.
Roseau does realize that - however last year, vs. this year are not quite the same. Yes, anything "can" happen - that's the obvious.
Moorhead looks like they have their hands full, losing to TRF last week?
