Tabaka has looked pretty good in his 3 outings, but I believe that Underwood will continue to get most of the starts from here on out. Consistent play from the D in front of them seems to be more of a concern than which one of them is in net. Sounds like that wasn't an issue tonight!

It is what it is!
Hopefully the Indians keep it rolling. They should handle Hibbing in this one 5-2.
On the issue of goaltending, Underwood has solidified himself as the #1 guy. That said, GR could do a lot worse than Tabaka. He'll probably see 1 or 2 more games to stay sharp, but that's just an opinon. If he were to play vs Hibbing, he would do just fine. Either tender, I'm still calling this game 5-2 Rapids.

It is NEVER bad to have two solid goalies. In fact, in the Wild's greatest playoff run ever they ran two goalies... With that said, I believe Underwood will play.Indians forever wrote:6-3 Rapids and keep Underwood in why fix something that isn't broken.

That is a good point, but the Wild is Pro Hockey and we are talking High School aged Kids playing Goalie. If you have a hot Goalie then you should always play hime to keep him fresh. just my opinion.boblee wrote:It is NEVER bad to have two solid goalies. I'm going to say the same thing in this matchup as I did with Hibbing's matchup against Virginia. If Grand Rapids can shut down DeCenzo, Jamnick and company, they will win. Grand Rapids has a much deeper team that has won some games against some quality opponents.
Hibbing may be hungry for a "W", though. They have been in some close games, but have struggled to win against better teams. As a matter of fact, the only win Hibbing has against an over .500 team this year was a 5-4 win over Robbinsdale Armstrong back on December 8th. They obviously have proven they can play with these teams, because they've been right in most of their losses, but I think they need a few more guys to step up if they are going to win some of these tougher games.
Hibbing will also need to stay out of the box if they are going to have a chance. Especially for the extra stuff.
I like Grand Rapids in this one, 4-2.

Just posing a guess here, probably following along a line similar to Warroad. Not enough bodies to choose from. They field a contending A team while fielding a competitive AA team. There's a difference.rapidsrapids wrote:Someone tell me, why is a strong hockey program like Hibbing in single A?

A.J. Underwood gets the nod for Grand Rapids tonight. Anyone know who will play in goal for Hibbing?

Exactly and since Hibbing hasn't been to the state tournament in three years, you would then have to pose the same question to Hermantown, Virginia, and Duluth Marshall. These four teams have been all been competetive with the AA teams in the area for years, but have all been contending for state tournament births in 7A (or 2A/5A) or even state championships every year. I'm not sure any of them would have gotten out of 7AA - or even to the semi-finals for that matter in recent years.GR3343 wrote:Just posing a guess here, probably following along a line similar to Warroad.
