RR would not have a chance as Edina would swallow them whole. This could be just one guys opinion but if they are that good then find a way to play our state champs year in and year out.
On another note, I dont think RR or any ND team could walk out of a AA section (other than 1AA as noted in a previous post) and on top of that, compete against 3 more teams of that calibre. I would like to see RR take a travel weekend throughout MN and play the top teams all in one weekend. It would almost be a simulation of our state tourney but you still wouldnt have the top lines. I bet they would go 1-2, that is without the top lines of MN top teams.
We will see this weekend RR takes on Bloomington Jefferson who is ranked high in class AA, and then they will play Roseau. What will your guy's excuse be when RR beats both of these teams. You people have never seen them play so don't talk if you don't know.
You're right about ONE thing. Red River plays Bloomington Jefferson on Friday.
You started this thread. You don't have to agree with anyone else's opinion, but don't get mad when people don't agree with you.....you asked for it when you started the thread.
That's basically what i was going to say. Nice job guy! Everything is hypothetical because RR will never play for the MN title. There's a river keeping you out! RR has a solid hockey program, but it's in ND. Yes, they could beat Roseau this weekend. What would that mean though? Nothing really. SoiuxYaYa will like to think that means he has his MN high school hockey championship, but it will turn out that is only a dream.
I'll take the Rams 5-2 in this hypothetical game. I'll take the Rams in a 4-2 victory over Jefferson who i think SiouxYaYa is looking past.
No one can argue that Grand Forks produces good hockey players. Alot of the GF teams may be able to compete early to mid season but the strength of schedule for the top end MN teams is far too strong. They would not compete with a top 10 team by the end of February when it really counts. So basically we are talking apples and oranges.
Am I the only one that finds random coloring annoying?
GFC is a pretty young team, and I'd bet my lucky charms that they fold under the pressure of a team with experience, and now that they beat South, I doubt GPR/RR/South, including Jefferson and Roseau will be underestimating their capabilities this year. I may eat my words, but I expect the aforementioned to happen.
Seems like a lot of the ND'ers on this forum are from GFC.
Here I was expecting this powerhouse from ND to take apart a decent team from MN. Jefferson has a nice club this year, but not one of the elite teams. From what I have read about RR, they are considered the best of the best in ND and would be considered the the same if they resided in MN. Truth is, they would be just another decent team in MN. They had the opportunity to send a message against the Jags, but failed. So please ND high school fans, relax & enjoy the 4 teams that play the sport there and leave the higher level of high school puck to the kids that play in MN.

Rather than dissing North Dakota, I want to thank them for putting together a fun tournament and including two very good teams from Minnesota. I hope there was a lot of money raised for cancer research, and thanks for honoring the memory of a truly remarkable teenager. Hopefully, there will be a lot of fan support today even though the home town favorite officially had a tie and won't be playing for the championship. Make the tournament an annual event and continue to include top Minnesota teams.

Checked the box score on this one to get a picture of the game...game goes down officially as a tie but the glaring stat that caught my eye were the saves. Jefferson goalie had 44 saves RR had 26 so RR put 47 shots on goal. Roseau did the same thing to Jefferson and scored with .2 seconds left on a PP to win. The January 15th match-up between RR and Roseau at Purpur should be a Jim Dandy.

You are correct. Jefferson really was fairly fortunate to tie or (win ... in shootout) this game but Swansson the gaalie for Jefferson played very well. Jefferson got a quick two goal lead on powerplays but Red River came back and dominated I thought from that point on. Shots were fairly lopsided in favor of Red River. The Roseau-Jefferson game was pretty similar with the Rams outshooting them and having another 6 shots of pipes and crossbars but again Swansson kept it close but can't take anything away from Jefferson as they showed they will be in the mix in their section.
I agree the Roseau-Red River game in Grand Forks on January 15th should be a great test for the Rams as will the Warroad and Buffalo games.
Overall, I felt that the Tourament was very good with a good mix of teams. Grand Forks Central is very young but showed they have a lot of talent but need to age a little. They will be very good the next couple of years with their top players all being freshmen and sophomores.

Compete.......yes
Top 5............not
I saw all the games. Red River will give Roseau a good game on Jan. 15--if the Rams don't bring their A-game they will lose. Red River would be at least ranked 7th--probably higher--in Minnesota.

Roseau and Jefferson play top tier teams all year round. RR has a few tough games in ND but after that ND doesnt have much to offer. My comment is about the lack of depth in ND and how that helps RR look better. Yes, RR is a good team but they dont play consistently tough opponents so it is tough to compare them to any top notch teams.
Give RR a full MN schedule and watch them go just above .500. As I said, I am not taking anything away from them but the fact they dont play top notch opponents for 15-20 games/yr hurts any chances of them being ranked.
I am a Jefferson fan and I even drove up to watch the RR game then came right back to the cities and it was a outstanding game for the goalie. But for a team that was around .500 last year those were two big games that showed how well they can actually do this year.
