THAT HOCKEY SPIRIT

Post by Ontheice »

With all the craziness that can be youth hockey sometimes you forget to notice all the things that are so cool, that can happen at the rink on any given day.
Today-
Commissioner - too sick to get out of bed comes to collect calendar money which he instituted and is running himself to keep association fees reasonable.
Head ref - gives up his Saturday to ref a last minute scrimmage which became a great event.
A Father(not me) - on the way to said scrimmage rolls his vehicle- a passerby picked up his son and brought him to the game thinking his father wouldn't be able to make it.
Highway patrolman - father of five hockey players drives father to arena in time to make the game.
Same father leaving the arena having thoroughly enjoyed the scrimmage smiling and saying that a vehicle can be replaced.
Son(yes mine) - ten calls while I wrote this getting the numbers of other boys so they can all play outdoors without any of the youth hockey craziness.
These are a few of my favorite moments today!

Sorry Elliot I edited it to make a little more clear. I was an innocent bystander, who just appreciated all of the efforts made to show that spirit.

This is what makes hockey a special sport, uniquely loved by us Minnesotans. With all the negative posts it is nice to read something like this.
