Thats what they said over the loudspeeker, but it was actually...

Swanson from Jenkins, and Monda. Monda shot from the angle, rebound went off the side boards, Jenkins picked it up went off the boards to Swanson for a one-timer off the pipe, and i believe the back of the goalie, then in.

Game Summary

First Period: 2-1 Brainerd, Shots: 13-9 Brainerd
GR came out flying early on, taking it to the Warriors early. Down 1-0 Brainerd was sparked by the Swanson goal, and then added a Olson powerplay goal late in the period. Heading into the first intermission looking promising.

Second Period: 3-0 GR, Shots: 12-4 GR
GR again came out flying, the Warriors had no answer. 3 goals later, the horn finally sounded the end to an UGLY period for the Warriors.

Third Period: 2-0 GR, Shots: 14-9 GR
Peterson in for Mimmack in goal for BRD
Once again, GR came out flying. Outside of a few short(and i mean short) bursts from Brainerd, GR completely dominated again.

Final: 6-2 GR, Shots: 35-26 GR

Thats a good recap other than your shots and goals from period summaries don't add up to the correct totals.

On a side note
After the game was over Brainerd goalie Kyle Peterson was helped back to the locker room with his Right Leg Pad off, he looked to be in a lot of pain. Anybody have any word on what type of injury he could have sustained?

Not certain if there is any connection, but witnesses saw Syd Barrett, Moe Wanchuk, and a guy with a video camera running from the arena with a metal pipe in Syd's hand after the game. Moe was quoted as saying, "That'll teach him to keep the 5-hole closed".

Singing the Blues

Post by northwoods oldtimer »

Clearly I was fed some misinformation from my compatriots out of the Barnyard city! Getting the phone reports on this one between periods had one thinking the Blue Crew was going to break the 'o-four' ice. Up until Thunderstruck in the 2nd period and carried the 'MO' out on into the 3rd to take a suprising 6-2 win out of the pulp peeling town of the Barnyard.
Based on the score and the shots it appears the boys have solved some of the Defensive coverage whoa's in the nick of time for the 7AA run at the metro cidiots. Hopefully the Blue Crew licks the wounds and get back to making 8AA a 3 pony race! Althought from the sounds of it the Rams are in a class by themselves right at this juncture of the season. Hopefully the T-Hawk faithful were able to get on over to Shep's to take in some of that Ol' Crow Whiskey before and after the tilt.

While the game was a victory, there's still a lot of holes. Good reason to feel optomistic though. Underwood played superb, and the forcheck was outstanding. The best I've seen in a while. The play of Roy, Rendle, Sparen, Moore & Kosak has been as good as advertised. As well as Prokop and Palki. Still concerns in the defensive zone which makes things iffy from game to game. Although at times, it wasn't quite as bad as the Greenway game. The next week will tell a lot about what this team has to offer with 4 straight tough games starting Fri with Moorhead.

A couple other players to take note of are Nate Dumm and Shane Greniger. While Greniger was expected to contribute, Dumm has impressed many with his gritty forchecking and tough defensive skills. Both are answering the bell for their senior campaign.

Good luck, Indians, and keep on improving.
