Mound Westonka vs. Denfeld (12/14) and Hermantown (12/15)
How does the weekend look for the White Hawks? I'm thinkin' 2-0
I'm not going to predict the outcome for the week but I just want to comment on the White Hawks. I saw them play recently and I was very impressed by their quickness/speed. They have 3 or 4 very talented forwards, with #9 being their big gun (in my eyes.) With that being said their defense and goaltending seem a bit suspect. My season prediction is a bunch of wins followed by a state tourney birth. Anything can happen in the tourney but I don't see them making it to the title game, Consolation champs!

Well, if they underestimate Denfend and Hermantown the way you obviously have - 0-2 sounds about right.mnpuckfan21 wrote:How does the weekend look for the White Hawks? I'm thinkin' 2-0

i would say both games could go either way.
i think that the hermantown game will come down to if they can slow down mw first line and if they can start putting pucks in the net.
the matchup between denfeld and mw first lines with jake johnson vs riley horgan should be really interesting.
should be two really good games.

Who's underestimating 2 top 10 teams? It's Mound that's underestimated, they're the better team in both games.

Denfeld & Hermantown are not top 10 teams...mnpuckfan21 wrote:fkahckyprofessor20 wrote:Well, if they underestimate Denfend and Hermantown the way you obviously have - 0-2 sounds about right.mnpuckfan21 wrote:How does the weekend look for the White Hawks? I'm thinkin' 2-0

I don't think Mound Westonka is underrated. They are undefeated with some quality wins.
A quick note I will make is that both of Denfeld's losses thus far have been with they're backup goalie starting in nets. The starter is hurt with a bad ankle. That and they only lost each game by one goal. They may not be a top 10 team right now but they can definitely hang with any top 10 team in class A as far as I'm concerned.

Games
Well its obvious Mound Westonka just didn,t have enough to beat either Denfeld or Hermantown. I have not seen Denfeld but did see Hermantown against Superior and was not impressed. I also felt they would find it as they skated really well just could not finish. Its obvious the counted on LeBlanc a lot to score. I like both Denfeld and Hermantown. They have great work ethic and fine coaching.

I'm actually posting from St. Mary's....
Riley is in surgery, a cut tendon in his ankle. Cut in it on his own skate. Lots of stiches. He will be out for a while.
Bryant is sore, stiff neck and some numbness on one side. No penalnty called on this one! He will probably be out for about a week.
Tuff weekend for Mound. Shots were pretty close in both games. Hermantown looked a little better than Denfeld, at least tallent wise. Denfeld was a much ruffer team, do they take lots of penaties other than at there rink?
Xmas break will be good for Mound to recover. They had a lot of banged up kids even before this weekend.

# 9 for Mound
Im sorry to hear these 2 kids got hurt. But I would say # 9 for Mound has a rough style of play. To be nice about it. He got crushed by a good hit in the 3rd and I was glad to see it. A clean hit also by the way, I would say he should have been in the penalty box alot more then he was against Denfeld. He looks like he has some good skill so im sure Mound will be hurting with out him. Like I said sorry to hear he is out. That sucks! Hope he is at least not a senior as that would suck even more.

Re: # 9 for Mound
How can you say that you were glad to see a kid get crushed? That is really low my friend..I have never seen the kid play so im not going to say anything but just looking at what he is done this season, it seems to me like he's a great player. That is just really low to say that especially since he is injured..barnorthhockeyguy wrote:Im sorry to hear these 2 kids got hurt. But I would say # 9 for Mound has a rough style of play. Hey rbkhockey dont call me low. I said I was sorry to hear he got hurt. I also said he looked like a good player. Hitting is a part of hockey and the hit I was talking about was a clean hit. Also number 9 played a rough style himself. As a matter a fact alot of people at the game friday said he was hitting with high elbows etc. Crushed was just a term i used. Some by me said he was a bully out there as well. I dont think he was but rough style and high elbows on some of his hits yes. I was not at the Hermantown game so I dont know what happened to him. If he had surgery it must be a bad injury so Im sorry for any kid who gets hurt and cant help his team. I wish him a speedy recovery. But dont call me low. I wish him and the Mound team a good season . I am glad Denfeld won as I am a Denfeld fan. If you have a problem with that thats your problem
Re: # 9 for Mound
Heard from a friend who has a kid on the team that Horgan may be out for the year. I've seen Mound play twice this year and I wouldn't say the kid plays a rough style, but he sure does get hooked, held and slashed a lot. Pretty talented kid - hope he recovers fully.Rbkhockey21 wrote:How can you say that you were glad to see a kid get crushed? Riley was/is tied with J.T. Brown for 1st this season in state. He's done wonders with Mound and he was their backbone. With Zack Johnson playing with a bothered shoulder, and only one player with explosive speed as Riley(Colin Mayer), it will be tough to see us(Mound) pull through the season.
He is a physical player, but to hear people say he throws elbows is outrageous. He hardly puts himself in a situation to get hit, and he rarely throws hits himself. He uses his speed, stick-handling skills, and agility to get the puck in the net.
