Several 8th graders on the first page and even a 7th grader as this is written. Note, not all 8th graders are varsity rookies, and scoring, especially this early, doesn't always equate with impact. But it's a measurement...
There are also several 9th graders who are making their debut at the HS level.

There are a lot of rookies out there. Besides the 7th, 8th and 9th grade rookies there are some Sophomores and Juniors too. I think its a little early in the season to point to any standouts but I have seen a few that I'm sure people are watching.keepitreal wrote:http://www.mghca.com/test/general/statistics.php

I never get too excited about statistics unless I know who is the competition. I think if you were able to look at stats against the top 20 teams it would be more relevant. Scoring goals and getting assists is only one piece of the puzzle but it can be skewed when there are games against weaker competition. Just like my college course "How to Lie with Statistics".Bensonmum wrote:I'm not sure I'd get too excited about 'Page 1' since it looks like there are lots of schools that aren't participating. It's too bad we can't have one website where everyone reports.Several 8th graders on the first page and even a 7th grader as this is written.
Joe Hockey stated that there was a 93 NDP out of Texas. I thought the youngest NDP level this year was 92?
The first girls NDP camp is for 14's but Minnesota does not participate/send girls for some reason - it was in Rochester, NY same week the 92's were in St. Cloud. Wisconsin and I think all other states/districts do send girls starting at age 14. Not sure that is in the best interest of Minnesota kids but there must be a reason. Camps are outstanding can't imagine why you wouldn't want top Minnesota kids in the process and learning from the great coaching?
Clare Shaw's family moved here in August. Girls in the CODP Festival would have played against her on Team Texas.

I think its a little early to mention names of rookies but since you opened the door on the West side of the Metro some rookies (first year of high school varsity) that have started strong and have made an early impact are:joehockey wrote:There are 5 top eastside kids to watch at Hill Murray and Woodbury:
Woodbury - 8th grade Clare Shaw D - she was a '93 NDP out of Texas and very good
Hill Murray - 8th graders Hanah Brandt C, Teona Zepeda F, Sara Bruchu D, 9th grade Marissa Brandt
Rachel Ramsey of Minnetonka
Hilary Crowe of Blake
Jordyn Burns of Benilde
Sami Reber and Greer Vogl of Edina
Allie LaCombe of Eden Prairie
Mara Post and Sam Moore of Lakeville South
McKensie Shannon of Wayzata
I was going to mention Milicia McMillen of Breck but she is in her second year as an 8th grader! I'm sure that I'm missing some but based on what I have seen and/or stats its a place to start.

Website stats
The players stats listed on the MGHCA website are VERY incomplete. A large number of teams did not list their rosters and player stats. The MGHCA did not get full cooperation with all the head coaches. Some teams only have stats for one or two games and they were listed by an opposing teams staff or coach. That is not say they are inaccurate. Just that they are incomplete. Hopefully they can prove to everyone that they are committed to their cause and next year it should be better. Right now the best place for scores is http://www.minnesota-scores.net. There are no websites right now that lists all the player stats accurately

How about the 8th grade defenseman from WBL. #28 Hanson. Caught the WBL /HM game, scored and Looked as good as any defenseman on the ice. Big, fast, can carry the puck. They had her on PP, PK. One to watch.

With out coming across as an elitist, but Texas NDP? I'll give you that she is a nice player, but if she is to become a Minnesota 93' NDP she better pack a lunch. Making the east team in phase two will be a huge challenge let alone the finale cut. Some of the best 93' defensemen in the state are from the east.joehockey wrote:The first girls NDP camp is for 14's but Minnesota does not participate/send girls for some reason - it was in Rochester, NY same week the 92's were in St. Cloud. Agreed an exceptional group of defensive players who are all having impact for thier teams!hockeyheaven wrote:With out coming across as an elitist, but Texas NDP? Haven't seen her play, but 12 points from a freshman D is pretty good I would say.
